The former executive director of the Illinois Republican Party was busted Wednesday for crashing a press call held by a Democratic congressional contender. He used a fake name and falsely claimed to work for a local student newspaper.
“I’m Dr. Rodney Davis and I’ll be substituting for your regular physician, Ms. Dirksen Londrigan. Let me start with some questions about patient history. Have you ever used cocaine or had unprotected sex with a member of ISIS?”
“I never said my staffers should disrupt my political opponent’s campaign events!”
Two incidents seems like something of a pattern to me. Klitzing should have been aware of the previous affair and he chose to intervene anyway. Either it demonstrates a lack of control over his staff on Davis’ part, or a culture that encourages this sort of thing.
Neither option says anything good about his leadership principles.
So, if his guy is a lawyer, someone should report him to the Illinois State Bar.
In Oregon, this could get you disbarred. I know of an attorney who made phone calls representing himself as a “doctor” who was disciplined by the Oregon State Bar. In his defense, he argued that he was a “doctor” because he had a J.D., but the Bar didn’t buy it.
Southern Illinois guy here. I’ve worked in politics my whole adult life including Illinois state politics. I personally know Nick Klitzing. He’s a real work of art. Thinks he’s smartest guy in the room at all times. Huge Trumper. Really believes he’s fighting on the front lines for souls and the future survival of America. Big tough talker. He stands about 5’5, 130lb. Typical Trumper
