Viewer Guide: What To Expect From The Jan. 6 Committee’s June Hearings

The House Jan. 6 Select Committee plans to unveil its discoveries about former President Trump’s months-long effort to steal an election over the course of several hearings in June. The first, held in prime time, was on Thursday, June 9, and featured a roadmap, laid out by panel co-chair Liz Cheney (R-WY), explaining the story she and her colleagues hope to tell.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1419330
  1. Tell the what you’re going to tell them.
  2. Then tell them.
  3. Then tell them what you told them.

This is how it’s done. This is what the J6 committee is doing.

There is enough specificity in this article to suggest comprehensive and sophisticated accountability.

There is enough flexibility in this article to suggest doubt as to exactly what type and form of said accountability.

Looks like three hearings this week, but not in prime-time, Of course those of us who are able will be watching live, but most of the country will not be able. Hopefully the networks and other corporate media will do a good job of summarizing for evening news consumption.

I’m assuming the final hearing(s) will be prime-time.

I think pleading the fifth was prelude to flipping for that spineless and chinless Jeffrey Clark. He is not built for prison.

Drunken Rudy ('Merica’s Mayor) got the ball rolling before the results were in:

Giuliani approached senior Trump aides early on election night at the White House.
“What’s happening in Michigan?” he asked.
The campaign manager, Bill Stepien, chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and senior adviser Jason Miller told him it was too early to know.
“Just say we won,” Giuliani said.
The aides said it was the same in Pennsylvania.
“Just say we won,” Giuliani said.
“Giuliani’s grand plan,” the authors report, “was to just say Trump won, state after state, based on nothing. Stepien, Miller and Meadows thought his argument was both incoherent and irresponsible.”
Meadows reportedly responded, angrily: “We can’t do that. We can’t.”
But Trump did.

And the rest of them all fell into line. Rudy finally testified (virtually) to the J6 Committee. I want to see that testimony. And I hope the indictments for the “rot at the top” start rolling in soon.

I don’t see anywhere on the TPM list of what to expect from the hearings:

= Anything about pursuing the R House Members or R Senate who indulged in the planning and participation of Election Fraud and Congressional Interference.

= Anything about the ex-prez’s direct attempts in GA, AZ, PA, WI etc. to overturn state results

= Anything about the fake elector slates

= Anything about the state AGs who sued in an attempt to disenfranchise whole other states at Chump’s request.

= Anything about the most obvious tack these hearings should be taking, about showing that the D process and personnel was without fault and no election fraud was EVER detected. Even at a miniscule level. Meanwhile, the ENTIRE R party and nearly every person or institution with an R in the name pulled every single fraud mechanism imaginable (and unimaginable).

ETA: I somehow missed the 5th Hearing paragraph each time I scanned the article - it directly indicates the fake Electoral Slates is on the menu.
