A U.S. attorney, the FBI and the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice are “reviewing the situation” after a noose was found in the garage of a Black NASCAR driver. In a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Northern District of Alabama, officials said investigators would look for any “violations of federal law.”
I’m having a hard time believing any NASCAR garage would not have video surveillance. There are millions of dollars in engines, parts, etc. in these garages not to mention concern about spying /espionage by other teams.
They would be exhausted when they finish, looking in NASCAR for guys racist enough to hang a noose, is like looking in a pack of hyenas for one gross enough to eat carrion…
The question, of course, is whether NASCAR will out the person on the video. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out the video system “wasn’t working properly” or didn’t cover that part of the garage…
Bubba’s garage had video surveillance but it showed so many overweight guys in hoods arguing that the FBI’s real chore will be determining which one of them put the noose there.
