TX State Rep Insulted In Recording Forecasts Doom For The Speaker

Texas state Rep. Michelle Beckley (D) has friends in high places — Texas A&M, to be exact. And it’s through her participation in the so-called “Aggie Caucus,” named for the school’s mascot, that she got the details on just how Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen (R) insulted her during a meeting now preserved on tape.

Release the Snyder cut!

At least there’s some good news coming out of Texas!

Why are Texas Republicans and their Right Wing sympathizers suppressing this tape?

I think it’s the political equivalent of Gilbert Gottried’s joke, The Aristocrats.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

This is one of the dumbest things the Texas GOP has ever gotten caught doing.

Because Texas is becoming more blue – and there’s more than chance that Democrats can flip the House in 2020.

That said, at least Bonnen listened to the business lobby and didn’t let a bathroom bill through this session.

As someone mentioned yesterday, I miss Molly Ivins. I have been thinking of the columns she would write about this bunch. Almost makes me want to buy a Ouija board, so that I can channel her!

This is hilarious – the Aggie Caucus ratted out on Bonnen. I am sure that most of its members are Republicans but the Aggie bond is tighter than political bonds. I am also amazed that an Aggie is a member of the Texas Democratic party.

Because a bunch of GOPers were bad mouthed in this recording and this alone will give local democrats fuel to attack the GOP they fear. And then there’s the list of moderate GOP that superpac is supposed to attack and after that were the misogynistic attacks and the nasty language used against democrats. So that’s why they don’t want this to be public knowledge. But recordings have a way of leaking.

Another “Democrats in disarray” story.

The joke does predate Gilbert Gottfried.

She said that Republican caucus chairman Dustin Burrows, who was also in the meeting and, according to Sullivan’s claims, handed over a list of Republicans for Sullivan to target with his super PAC during the primaries, has flown under the radar amid the fallout.

In any non-corrupt environment, wouldn’t this coordination between political figures and Super PACs pose a legal problem?

With an enrollment of 68,000 they have all kinds of students.

With an enrollment of 68,000 they have all kinds of students.

Yeah, they’ve got everything from Republicans to Conservatives to right-wingers. Of course there’s some variety, but for a university it’s a remarkably conservative, conformist environment.

Yes, many versions. His sort of sticks in my mind.

But to be surprised that Democratic leaders in Texas come from Texas A&M is to ignore that many, many people go to Texas A&M. It’s not a question of percentages, but rather magnitude.

We are still searching for the bottom.
