This entire article is about how terrible this decision is, and how it will be difficult to undo. However, buried in the middle of the ninth paragraph, the author admits that the Secretary of State can simply exercise his/her discretion to remove the group.

The next paragraph admits that this would be “viable”. There is no further discussion about why in the world a Biden administration wouldn’t simply immediately do this?

The article seems to state - and it appears obvious - that this is not a good-faith decision, but a bad-faith act to try to sabotage U.S. foreign policy under Biden. As such, any fallout from an immediate, low-profile, reversal on January 21 would seem to be limited.

Why do Democrats insist on acting as though bad-faith actions undertaken by Republicans should be afforded the sort of deference accorded to normal policymaking? We need to stop being shy about using the tools at our disposal - the opposition certainly feels no such restraint.

Short answer: yes, the article states that the Secretary of State has the discretion to simply delist the group.

Long answer: The author appears to do their best to avoid discussing the above option for reasons that are unclear to me. I have no idea why the author treats this as some kind of intractable problem given the above. We need to stop being shy about using the tools we have. We’re going to need all of them.
