Yes, absolutely right but we also “need to stop being shy” in truth-telling in our complicity of both the Obama and Trump administrations for logistical support we provide to the Saudis, resulting in genocide and famine in Yemen. That would be a good start.

President Biden is just going to have to undo most everything trump did, review, and then do what ought to be done. And the reason why he’s undoing everything trump did is because trump is an oathbreaking, traitorous, ignorant, grifting, incompetent, unqualified fool who should never, ever, ever, have been President of the United States because of his utter lack of qualifications as a politician, a businessman, and especially as a human being.

There’s obviously no one in tRump’s administration that knows how to follow the Administrative Procedure Act. During the transition period the President-elect should set up a group specifically tasked with reviewing every action/policy/EO by the tRump administration and summarily void anything that did not conform to the most stringent interpretation of the APA. Announce the cancellation list immediately after taking the oath of office. Then take on those few things that (probably accidentally) did follow the APA properly and issue more formal EOs (and etc.) following the APA to cancel any offensive ones.
THAT’S “cancel culture” I can approve of!)

Well. In case anyone remained in this country after the 8 years of GOP obstruction and bad faith resistance to President Obama who believes that the Republican Party has any fucking interest in responsible governance, this just proves that they are pretty much only about small minded white supremacist vindictiveness.

My long winded and probably boring explanation follows.
The whole premise of the article is that this decision will be difficult for Biden to reverse and so could derail his ability to act in certain ways. However, for that the be true, one has to assume that there is some reason the Secretary of State wouldn’t simply exercise her/his discretion to de-list the group. While the author never outright states why the Secretary shouldn’t outright reverse this action, the entire basis of the parade of horribles is that it would somehow be difficult.
In fact, the only difficulty I can imagine is the mindset that there is some responsibility for a subsequent administration to honor the choices made by the previous administration. Indeed, in normal times, there is a good argument for this position - but these are not normal times, and we should not act as though they are.

There is no version of war with Iran that wouldn’t lead to WW3. Iran is a completely different beast than Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan. Calling it catastrophic would be an understatement.
