Health care industry officials are reportedly worried about the Trump administration considering scaling back the national emergency declaration for COVID-19.
At this point there is no one in the leadership position in regards to COVID-19. Which means Trump thinks this a plot to hurt his re-election chances, and make him look stupid.
By ending the official emergency declaration that means FEMA isn’t there to help, but then they haven’t been helping in regards to supplies needed.
I swear if the Governors in a region banded together and cut out Trump they’d might just do a better job.
This is almost inevitable, Trump is pretending that the crisis is past despite all the warning signs, he’s desperate to get the economy going so it boost enough to push him to victory in November. Everything can crash after that and it won’t matter, as long as he keeps power it’s fine if we have many more dead Americans. Cutting off the emergency also cuts off a lot of aid and spending channels for the states, so it’s doubly bad…even the states trying to do it right will be hamstrung.
It remains ironically true that if Trump had led the US through the pandemic like the other nations that handled this well (which means basically he stays out of the way and let the scientists have everything they needed while cheerleading people to be safe), he’d be seen as a hero who saved many lives and on his way to reelection against the “doddering has-been Biden”. Trump really has dug his own electoral grave in the past few months, hopefully he ends up buried in November.
What am I missing here?
Didn’t that Pence guy (head of the COVID-19 task force) say it would be behind us by Memorial Day? Obviously, there is no more need for the national emergency declaration.
To paraphrase what the healthcare folks are saying: “lifting the emergency declaration would be the stupidest possible course of action. So of course we’re very concerned the Trump admin will do exactly that.”
And with good reason!
In other words, the end of the emergency will be declared later tonight or tomorrow morning via tweet.
Has anyone heard what Trump’s plans are for his second term if he wins? Shouldn’t he be saying something about that starting right here and right now?
It is seeming to me more and more as if he knows he isn’t going to win again and he’s taking his revenge on the American people in advance.

By reducing the number of testing in states with rising Covid infections and potentially ending Covid-19 Emergency…Covid will magically go away!
