President Trump has spent the entire weekend holed up in the White House, voraciously consuming media coverage of his White House acting chief of staff and becoming increasing frustrated by Mick Mulvaney’s messy attempts to clean up his quid pro quo admission last week.
Yup, Mick will have an overwhelming urge to spend time with this family. Whether his family wants to spend time with him is another question all together.
Mulvaney is toast. I’m pretty sure the only reason he hasn’t been canned yet is that literally no one else on the planet wants to be Trump’s Chief of Staff.
So does Trump fire Mulvaney right away, or toy with him and increase Mick’s abasement for a little while (under a Scaramucci from the Mick’s Presser, of course.)
Presumably this was Trump himself telling CNN this news. Unless it was Jared. There’s not a long list of potential sources. I think I read recently that “high sources in the administration” or “Someone close to Trump” means Trump.
Mick’s only CoS but head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as well. I figure Jared for CoS and Ivanka for CFPB - only because Jared has a lot of stuff on his plate and Ivanka is a top consumer of odd dresses and accessories.
According to CNN, Trump is growing increasingly annoyed that Mulvaney can’t seem to properly communicate the White House’s impeachment message and spent the weekend watching the news and taking calls from allies who criticized Mulvaney.
Mulvaney can’t seem to properly communicate the WH’s impeachment message because it is incoherent. No one can communicate it. The boss seems to think that they can lie their way out of this (again), but they haven’t seemed to come up with the right lie yet.
And I still contend that Mulvaney was actually saying exactly what his boss wanted him to say. The audience didn’t buy it. That presser was the Trump Steaks of pressers.
