Trump Wants Wall Built By Election Day, Encourages Officials To Break Law If Needed

Its one of those things that SCOTUS hasn’t really weighed in on (because they never had to), so there isn’t case law to point towards.

Of course, there really isn’t any case law to back up the DoJ assertion that a sitting President can’t be indicted for crimes, either. Because again, SCOTUS hasn’t had to weigh in on that subject.

I bring that up because these statements if proven true, (which the WH is now admitting they were, but were “jokes”), would become evidence of the President engaging in conspiracy to commit crimes, and soliciting others to engage in committing crimes. In other words, Criminal Conspiracy and Solicitation. Note that in both cases, the underlying crime doesn’t even have to be committed, merely making the offer, especially with enticements, is criminal.

All of this is why if a Dem did this, the GOP would be immediately calling for impeachment inquiries to begin. And they would be right to do so. And so once again, we must wonder…why aren’t Dems making such proclamations?

Trump administration plans to divert at least $155 million from the FEMA disaster relief fund to help pay for the wall.

Hey, those funds are gonna be needed to clean up the White House in Jan. 2021!

Yes. An open criminal enterprise.

Isn’t inducement to commit a crime a crime in itself?

Often noted. And in the masking tradition, those faces are often meant to represent demons, and when you think about it he’s a demon our American psyche conjured up, so that’s—I don’t know, it’s, like, trippy, man. Just one of those coincidences I’m sure. :japanese_goblin:

I sincerely hope a landowner shoots anyone who tries to just “take the land”.
I really, really want to see the debates/arguments that clash-of-cultures sets off.

And in addition to taking people’s land, building a wall is leaving an ecological disaster in its wake… not to mention the impacts on flood control especially in the Rio Grand Valley.

A feature not a bug for him.

Let’s just presume that there are more than handful of compromised people willing to go along with this and have no problem with it. We need to know who they are.

I know… he doesn’t understand much that isn’t about money and himself.

Woah now, 2023 is way too fast. We need at least 5 years to build an airtight case for the courts. So maybe by Javanakas second term in 2028? That sounds more reasonable.

Remember all those people who called Obama a “lawless President”? I wonder where they are now.

So the Roberts Court would not have to ignore precedent and instead could go where no man has gone before. That’s good for his legacy.

Trying to think of what state crime might be committed in the act of seizing land and constructing Berlin Wall II: Electric Boogaloo. All I can come up with is criminal trespass, which is a misdemeanor here in Texas. Federal civil rights laws would seem to provide a much stronger deterrent.

Note to Trump: Announce 500 miles of moat, then immediately declare victory. Problem solved.

Now, if there was just an ad campaign that tied this to the entire Republican Party…

In the 5-4 decision in United States of America vs Donald J. Trump Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote for the majority:

“… even wielding the finest tooth comb, there is found no mention of either ‘despotic monarchy’ nor any covenant, either express or implied, fettering the Presidential power to issue pardons, whether to cover up an alleged crime committed by the President or any other member of any department under command of the Executive branch of the United States government.”

Then, in a surprise non sequitur, Justice Kavanaugh thanked an unnamed donor who paid off his mortgage and his credit card debts as well as the “two score and ten Senators who granted me this cherished lifetime appointment.”
