President Donald Trump went on a peculiar tangent Friday as he defended his pressure campaign on foreign governments to investigate his political rivals.

This is the single most desperate thing he’s claimed yet.

You’re beautiful, Mr. President, like Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry

And bookings at the Falwell Jr. Miami hotel have increased by incredible amounts too…

Amen!

Fricking hypocrites.

Totally disconnected from the facts that show people, especially young people, running away from religion, and especially evangelical Christianity. This is to keep that group on his side, as if he’s the only one defending them against the onslaught…if he can manage to make them identify with him being under attack then he can hold them. It’s really a sign of desperation, Trump is flailing and watching things fall apart, so he’s grabbing at everything he can to try to keep it all together.

Totally unsustainable in every respect.

Moby Dick…Trump is the Great White Whale

Who can’t swim.

OT He is going to spin more and more into a Sunset Boulevard world of his own making, no matter what the sycophants try. I don’t know how he can stand upright.

Any day now he will be the Messiah. If he hasnt allready claimed to be.

No, President Two Corinthians, what Falwell Jr and Jeffress offer is called politics, not religion.

I’m in favor of his crucifixion, if that would help.

Had to be the biggest. Little wouldn’t work

Absolutely. The exact opposite of his ravings is the truth as usual.

He is trying to shore up the evangelical component of his base. Actually I wouldn’t doubt the power pastors told him what he repeated today. They are all whistling past the graveyard. The number of people who identify as evangelicals is declining.

I will avert my eyes when he shouts he ready for his close up. I just don’t want to see him that close up.

I don’t know of course, but I would not be surprised if true, the hypocrites of our society are having a revival like never before. I am trying to remember an american christian leader with a significant following denounce the crook. They either praise him or excuse him or simply shut up. And that is for the same reason Republicans are cowered, their congregations are full of trumptards and trumpturds, and they would not do anything that affects the collections plate, brave soldiers of God.

Name them.

It wouldn’t surprise me, if true.

However, one needs to remind those Evangelicals that ‘Thou Shalt not Steal’ and ‘Thou Shalt not Bear False Witness’ are absolutes and can’t be conflated the same way they do with the Constitution.

Every last one of them needs to be challenged on this. Because now, they’re in violation of the most deeply held tenets of the Christian church. That ain’t gonna help 'em in the Rapture.

ETA: Also the love thy neighbor stuff. They’ve completely forgotten that too.

There is a coterie of mostly convention Southern Baptist evangelical pastors who are behind this. Robert Jefress, Tony Perkins, Franklin Graham, Jack Graham, and every one of them is a political actor. This isn’t even about religion - it’s politics, period.

Would this revival be before or after his “consorting” with Stormy Daniels and those prostitutes in Moscow?

And stuff like this is why folks are abandoning the church.
