NBC’s move here is disturbing yet unsurprising – but this is why Biden should have stuck to the original event despite Trump’s chickening out. His switching to an ABC-only event was perhaps a mistake.
Still, it may all work out, especially if he now wins the obvious ratings contest.
Well, that’s just great - I know unemployment is high, but more people are working than are not. 8a eastern means 5a pacific, so the ratings for both will be ridiculously low.
Maybe this is for the folks overseas - the Americans that are in Europe or Asia - but to try and capture the American voter still within the 50 states, this makes no sense for the timing.
I don’t get why the network would participate in this. Is the scheduling at the same time as Biden’s as infantile as it sounds? Or is Biden’s town hall more of a campaign event?
This was so absolutely predictable. Everyone should turn their tvs on to Biden’s townhall even if they’re not watching. It would be one more thing to get under his skin if Biden had two or three times as many people watching, since one of his go-to brags is always about his wonderful ratings. Besides, anyone who wants to hear answers to questions won’t tune in to Trump because he doesn’t have any.
Thereby ensuring that everyone who was on the fence about whether or not to watch the Biden Town Hall will now crawl over broken glass if they must to watch it, just to ensure Biden gets higher ratings than Trump - high enough to humiliate Combover Caligula.
My channel guide shows that ABC has it scheduled for PM, while NBC has that time slot as “To Be Announced”. Can you imagine how difficult it would be for Trump to be ready for a Town Hall at 8 AM? He won’t be over the crash from his super-spreader event on the night before. Besides, everyone knows that he’s still having Fox and Friends executive time then. I’m sure that the campaign considers it to be a grand triumph that they’ll take eyes away from Biden, and insisted on this time (although at this point in the campaign, MLB playoffs, and football, there are probably fewer evenings that they can televise something like this). But the real question is this: do they really think that the contrast is going to look good on the news Friday morning? I know they think he can dominate Savannah Guthrie, but that isn’t going to go well either, especially since Biden is so personable at these things.
