Trump To Announce Move On Census Citizenship Question | Talking Points Memo

unfortunately, Pelosi would refuse to act even if Epstein has tapes of Trump raping a 13 year old Ivanka look-a-like – she’d insist on “oversight hearings” first, because she’s afraid that the pedophiles in Trump’s base would turn against Trump Country Democrats.

Whether they are losing remains to be seen.

I just want to make a point blatantly clear that i’m sure everyone here already knows, and that point is that the status of one’s citizenship is irrelevant to the census, entirely! The Census counts people! This nation was founded by immigrants!!! That is who and what we are!!! That is what this country is!!! We are a nation of immigrants! End of story!!!

Trump issues an executive order to put the census question on the form. The courts say no (I hope at least one judge will point out that we elected a president, not a king). Then comes the sticking point: Will Trump obey the court, or will he insist that the form be printed his way, and the judges be damned?

Fortunately, he’s a coward, so he’ll probably back down. And the damage has already been done–millions will avoid responding to the census out of fear.

You think he’s ratcheting up the crazy, now? Wait until July 17. Full nuke.

This is simply not true. Every lawyer who appears before the court is considered an officier of the court, and is subject to disciplinary measures by the court – including disbarment proceedings.

In addition, Federal marshals are officers of the court, and can be used by the court to enforce its editcts.

I been thinking how much more information the government could collect on all the people in the country if we had single payer health care. The census doesn’t document your DNA or distinguishing characteristics like a medical examination does and I think people would be interacting with the medical community much more often than once every ten years, providing real time data! Let the medical community control the information, not politicians or private corporations.

The Republican Party is in the business of evolving into something else that will negate that necessity, entirely. Democrats, meanwhile, have been placed in the business of preserving the very principles that are the foundation of our country. Conservatism as the ideology of the GOP has been replaced by the mere objective of complete and unchecked control of our government. That is what they live for.

The calculus is fairly simple, if radical (in that few presidents have done it in the past).

First, try to do something as if it’s lawful, even if it’s not–even if it’s egregiously not. When challenged, take it all the way to SCOTUS. If you win, great, proceed, under color of lawfulness. If you lose, have your lawyers and spox engage in some legalistic hand-waving then go ahead and do it anyway, and dare anyone to do anything about it, which they probably won’t, at least in any way that matters.

Would Roberts send federal marshals to go after Ross? I doubt it, assuming he even can. Would congress impeach? Please. They will bury Pelosi with her cards still in her cold dead hands. She is a coward who cannot and will not fight and the only way to change that is for Dems to unseat her. She’d sooner destroy her own party than fight. It’s simply not what she does. All talk, no action, and EVERYONE knows it (everyone who matters at least, which doesn’t include the Go Dems Go Rah Rah I’m An Imbecile squad).

This is your constitutional crisis, folks. It might begin with this matter but won’t end with it. Once Trump realizes that he can effectively do anything he wants, he will, with increasing viciousness. The immigrant raids are about to begin in earnest. Expect it to be ugly. Expect there to be casualties. It will get even worse, much worse, unless and until Dems finally FUCKING DO SOMETHING.

The court could hold Ross in contempt, throw him in jail, and issue stays prohibiting any other Commerce department official from acting in violation of its order, and issue stays preventing any outside company from printing forms, etc.

A principle preserved in words only is meaningless. If Dems care about these principles, they’re fight for them in deed as well as word. But they won’t, as usual. Paper tigers.

You really think that’ll happen, and that any injunction or stay won’t be just a piece of paper that’s never enforced? You think Roberts will sic marshals on them?

Last week the American public was polled at 53% AGAINST Trump’s impeachment.

In a normal country it would be 5%

Even in the 1970s it would have been 20% MAX

This is what we are dealing with. The somnolent (unless there is an i-phone sale) Sleepyheads…Because a lot of those 53% don’t even know who Trump is or what he is doing to America.

TPM is NOT America…not by a long shot…

I wanted an Impeachment Inquiry because of…TV. That’s how you get sleepyheads. If we do not have some Heavy Hitters in glaring to Joe and Jill Public on the teevee SOON, Trump will keep on doing what he is doing.

He gets energized by our outrage.

If I could, I would make us all Spock, and logically (we have the ability) remove this clown from Office while it is still ridiculously easy to do.

In theory, yes, this is how it works, or is supposed to. In practice, I’m not at all convinced that this will happen. If the GOP establishment that includes both Mueller and Roberts won’t indict a president and his staff, do you really think they’ll hold them in contempt AND put then in jail? I just don’t see it. Different rules for men in power.

yeah, but in this case, its ridiculous to blame Trump for it. Everyone does it – I mean, its not like any of the Dem Presidential candidates didn’t announce that they would be announcing something having to do with their presidential ambitions…

So Federal Marshalls would shut down the printng presses doing the Census questionnaires? Or physically restrain, and incarcerate if necessary, employees doing the work?

reportedly, Trump will ask the Supreme Court for “expedited review”.

And whether the court grants it will tell us what direction this country is heading. because logically, the Courts would tell Trump to sod off — that they already provided expedited review based on a July 1 drop dead date.

Pathological, yes, but it also is evidence of his insatiable need to declare that he belongs and exists in such an enamored place among such legitimately honorable people. When he says those words, there is evidence that he is there, in that place, recognized by everyone as being what he says. IOW, those words are a self-help crutch that he uses to placate and make himself feel better about himself, because just look at him. Dotard T rumpp, there in the beautiful Rose Garden, declaring himself to be God’s gift to America, just like the great Abraham Lincoln, or George Washington, or Dwight Eisenhower.

Trump orders the printer to add the citizenship question. The printer agrees to do it. Maybe the printer is fine with it being on the form, who knows? Regardless, Trump issues the order, and it’s followed.

and a stay is issued, ordering the printer to stop printing – and notifying the printer that there are no funds authoritized by congress to pay for the printing.

They’ve been losing for decades, it’s why they’ve had to resort to cheating.
