Only thing for sure - what ever he says - it will make things worse.

An executive action. “Move fast, break things.”

It’s almost as if they’re creating their own reality.

Good.

The sooner Roberts proves himself on this, the better.

One way or another.

Not sure how this is going to work in practice. Can a president really overrule the Supreme Court with an executive action? My brain says, “no, of course not,” but the sick feeling in my stomach says, “we’re about to find out…”

My money is on the slow walk. But we’ll see what happens. It would be nice if it all came to a head within the next week or two - instead of ‘after the elections’.

'member when Obama defied the Supreme Court and issued an EO to get around their ruling, and Hannity’s head exploded in a volcano of mashed potatoes? Good times…

The abomination will decide what’s legal and right, no need for the judiciary to be involved in constitutional matters.

Isn’t this so much nicer than the democracy our country was founded on? Dear Leader decides and we obey - that’s true freedom, baby!

Technically, your brain is right.

But the Constitution does not enforce itself. Someone has to hold this criminal accountable – and in this case it has to be Roberts.

Hold him accountable? What exactly would that look like? Assuming it happens. Will they arrest him? Or… what? Issue an order NOT to print the census?

I have that deep fear as well, that Roberts will say, “You need a better reason to get the question added… Oh, Trump demands it? Ok, that’s a good enough reason.”

Issue an order. That is all the Court can do.

If it fails, then it’s up to the Congress to impeach – and convict.

Any fool can see that waiting has only made things worse.

You know he’s not holding a press conference to announce the citizenship question won’t be on the survey. He just wants another opportunity to blather on and on and throw another monkey wrench into the government.

No. There are administrative procedures he’d have to go through to even consider adding a citizenship question without a court decision allowing it. He can’t just change the rules in the middle of a process, especially one that is already underway. That’s my take but I’m just some peon out here in the hinterlands opining for peanuts.

If he does this, Nancy would have been prescient: he will impeach himself. Rat’s Ass Bastard defying SCOTUS should be good enough for even the centrists to formalize impeachment proceedings.

That is a true statement if I’ve ever read one. Let’s get on with it, denying this is not happening is really really not working. He’s destroying us.

What if citizens collectively decided to boycott filling out the census if Trump issues an extrajudicial EO? Is there a certain threshold of respondents necessary to make the census valid?

Be that as it may, you’re a lot more sensible – and honorable – than Trump’s “advisors.”

Organize it.

There are allies out there. Find them.

Sure there are rules that ‘forbid’ it. But honestly - so far - they’re playing the ‘agile development’ game. Make a move - and wait for it to work it’s way through the courts.

Is this the log jam? Good question.
