Trump Thinks Homelessness Is A New ‘Phenomenon’

President Trump is apparently under the impression that homelessness in the United States is a new “phenomenon.”

Can’t wait to hear his redevelopment plans. I guess Trump will try and get Carson right on this.

Too much, of course, to expect that they discussed Reagan’s contribution to homelessness in America – but I do wonder if Trump will now be asked about it.

Why bother, when he could just repeat the mass incarceration thing he already has going on.

Dude’s ignorance is dangerous.

Side note - is it just me, or are new items not showing on the “front page”?

Not just you.

Most halfway alert adults have been aware of this problem for decades. So I’m honestly puzzled what mix of obliviousness, cognitive decline, reflexive bullshitting, and bizarro political calculation is going on here.

Then there is that whole stupid “annecdote” about he and a 13 yr old Ivanka walking in front of Trump tower, and he points to a homeless person and says - essentially the homeless person has more than he does (cuz of billion+ in debt.) Made it into one of his books. Over 25 yrs ago.

It is pointless bs - except it fits with what is in currently in his head that San Francisco and LA are BAD (liberal democracies) b/c homelessness. So he says this bs.

So is it a sign of obsessive thought, or onset of dementia.

He was probably referring to all the attention its gotten in the last two years. I think he’s an asshole but I don’t think he’s just arrived on the planet.

Trump’s syphillic brain must be clairvoyant if he knows what goes on in many cities. As a lifelong New Yorker I can say that the man nor his offspring never took an interest in any of these issues. He never interacted with the populous nor soaked in the life, soul and vibe of the city. It was exit from the limousine after the ride from Queens to his tower.
Ed Koch in his infinite wisdom challenged Trump to build some affordable housing, Trump grunted that it didn’t pay and he wouldn’t get his investment back. Somehow other developers and community non for profits managed to.

Hey, Fat Donny.

You want to help the homeless problem?

Ask a liberal, a progressive, shit ask AOC.

You idiot.

If we take Donnie at his word, then homelessness became a problem on his watch. He’s been in office for 2.5 years. If the problem is only 2 years old, he owns it. Oooopppsss!

Trump then blamed the “liberal establishment” for homelessness and argued it was “inappropriate” for world leaders to come to Washington, D.C. and have to see homeless people on the street.

Like that ultra-liberal St Raygun, who closed many of the mental health institutions without a thought about what services would need to be in place to support the former residents. I believe that was the start of the massive homelessness problems we have today.

This is because Faux News again. Faux News has been harping on the homelessness in hated blue cities like San Fran, LA, Seattle, etc. with a pretty steady drumbeat on their website for the past couple years. I have to imagine they are trying to instigate more population shift from blue to red states…more people means more reps and they’re busy locking down the governments in those states so that they can’t be turned blue.

Yeah, it’s also part of demagoguing that these people are soon being sent to ruin a Wonderbread suburbia near you.

“It’s a phenomenon that started two years ago,” Trump told Carlson, commenting on cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles’ “major problem” with “filth.”

Hmmm, who was President of the United States two years ago?

@esva

Great minds think alike. (Actually, I didn’t read the whole thread before posting.)

Money? No.

But humanity? Probably yes.

More of the same. This lunatic is recycling RW talking points about CA to gin up his ever shrinking base. He is phoning it in. Same old lines, same old crap. Even he doesn’t sound like he believes it anymore.

It is. It started with the bigly Trumpian tax cut everyone got.

$1.87 doesn’t go as far as it used to…
