Use the new TPM ignore feature. Georgeh was the first troll I used it on, and I am now blissfully unaware of his ravings.
But not more tiresome than non-denial denials!
Why do we need a court system?
Shorter Judge McFadden: “The solution for the Executive ignoring the law is for the Legislature to pass more laws.”
All the hand-wringing on this thread is silly.
This is about black-letter law and any judge who is even vaguely competent will rule in favor of the Ways & Means Committee.
If this judge hands it to Trump, he’ll be overturned on appeal and made to look like a partisan hack of the worst kind.
Is that for real?
If so, where?
You remember the Woody Harrelson character in “2012”. Everything about him said,
“I was right all along…”
One of the negative outcomes of that character was that it strengthened the All-American Conspiracy-Uber-Pessimist bent of those of us who–although we are not capable of “taking charge”–can, nevertheless, endeavor to “never be wrong”.
And, in this Trump reality, the “smart play” is to go as negative as possible… I remember when those boys had a field day in 2017 before McCain gave the ACA the boost that kept it going**
** Of course, boo-bird dogma demands my statement being “negative-ized” by the present effort to kill the ACA.
“…This is about black-letter law …”
Even a non-lawyer like me understands that, but I can also understand the distrust of this admin and its enablers in the courts and senate.
oooh! I can’t seem to find it…
What scares me is what if it’s turtles all the way up? The more judges they appoint, the more this can and will happen, until the skids are greased for him all the way to the conclusion that he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
(* – not sure what you actually typed there, thanks to my browser plug in that inserts an insult for every occurrence of the president’s name. Did you in fact call him a Putrescent Bag of Toxic Sludge?)
No, but I would have if it had occurred to me at the time.
If this case goes to an appeal on the merits, a 3-judge panel will rule on it.
Trump is fucked on this one.
The federal courts have not been kind to him overall.
Good point. And long may they continue to be unkind to him.
And then so is revolt and civil war. Our kids are in no mood to take this shit for long…
This is exactly how I read that decision. Congress appropriates funds for particular purposes (in an act of appropriation, a law), the “President” misappropriates those funds for other purposes, and “Judge” says, “So, you can always pass a law.” W. T. F. ?
I hope the idiot can read and interpret the law as it is written. For if he does that, there is only one decision that he can hand down…IRS MUST TURNOVER TRUMP’s TAX RECORDS TO CONGRESS!
Where?! I want!
The people hold the key to Trump’s demise. They just don’t know it yet…and, quite frankly, I am quite certain that when the momentum shifts, Trump is toast.
That’s how social change works…some courageous folks who don’t mind being cleverly disparaged by the boo-birds
-
Then some adventurous souls
-
Then some folks with gumption
-
Then the parts of the herd adjacent to the gumptioners
-
Then the Herd
-
Then the various degrees of stragglers
-
Then the hold-outs and the Rump of America
And, years later, I guarantee that most of the Herd (over a beer, maybe) will hold forth on how they were at the forefront of getting Trump removed from Office
“A seat in Congress comes with many prerogatives, but legal standing to superintend the execution of laws is not among them.” - What he said in 2017.
Hopefully that sentence will come back to haunt him.
To use the new ‘ignore’ feature, go to the profile of the commenter you wish to ignore and change the ‘normal’ setting to ‘ignore.’
To get to the profile, click on the commenter’s name/avatar and then again on the name/avatar in the pop-up.
On a personal note, I would discourage the use of the ignore feature, as it is a tool that can lead to the creation of a bubble in which viewpoints that you may not agree on, but have some validity, are removed from discussion.
However, the feature is currently available.I do not advise ignoring anyone with the ‘TPM moderator’ title.
I will use it with the utmost judiciousness, thank you. I only have two folks in mind.
ETA: And maybe only one, I agree about the bubble effect. Georgeh is not a troll-without-merit like this other user I will be blocking.
