Trump Signs Executive Orders As COVID Negotiations Stall

I wonder if he understands or cares that he just gave Senate Democrats and Speaker Pelosi more leverage in Coronavirus relief negotiations, if there are any?

No matter how stupid you are if you’re not working you’re going to notice that this (payroll tax cut) is not getting you any money.

Trump and GOP logic on full display:

  1. “If we get sued, it’s somebody who doesn’t want people to get money,” Trump said.

  2. At least 20 Republican senators though, by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) count, won’t support any more federal aid being spent at all.

Therefor, it’s the "Democrats [who] continue to hold this critical relief hostage.”

I do. I’m just looking for the best way to write my letter to the editor. :joy:

She’s playing hardball, too, I read. Not willing to give much at all because she is aware of her political strength and she has the leverage.

These provisions are to the COVID Recession as paper towels are to Hurricane Maria.

Landlords are richer and more likely to keep afloat, are more likely to vote GOP, and most can refinance if pushed, which throws money at Wall Street.

The plan here, and the reason for no specific language on evictions, is to let Dem renters go to the wall, and leave their election paperwork on a dead doormat.

I gotta look for it, but Murphy was previously asked about Bedminster and Trump (it was either on Blitzer or Burnett).

Though it’s a sign of me getting old, i forgot his answer.

As others have stated quite clearly, but what is also does is give Biden a huge issue to beat the Ahole with, he is saying he will de-fund Social Security and Medicare and by default Medicaid. This during a pandemic and with the nation against any such thing. It is an other example of his lack of knowledge about the issues and the nation.

I don’t know why they insist on treating him like he’s the fucking Ayatollah of Iran - above all the concerns of we lowly mortals. But it’s on them and their consciences if their staffs start dying.

I think defunding is what he really wants. At the very least it adds to a Biden’s mess next year. At most it leads to program cuts and harm.

Now’s a good time to ask Trenton if not social distancing nor wearing masks is a-ok.

Trump and GOP logic, Part Deux:

The executive order does not actually prevent evictions and provides little more than suggestions to HUD on how to help renters avoid evictions under current law.

DACA does not actually make undocumented aliens citizens and provides little more than guidelines on how to avoid deportation if you came to the U.S. while under the age of 16.

One of these is the lawful exercise of presidential powers, the other is an unconstitutional overreach of presidential powers.

Discuss.

Trump just made a very public unilateral action. Executive Order to him now is he says it and it gets done. If he gets in again it is fascism all the way.

He also just threw away the perceived usefulness of both chambers. It’s why Meadows was sent in to make sure the negotiation failed.
