President Donald Trump’s after-the-fact pronunciation Tuesday night that he wanted to send Americans $2,000 checks — rather than the $600 that congressional Republicans had begrudgingly agreed to — has left the two Republican senators currently campaigning in Georgia in a tight spot.
It’s a nicely timed Christmas gift to the Dem candidates. They get to campaign as the people most concerned with the welfare of struggling Americans, where the GOPers look like Scrooge AND enrage Cheeto Mussolini in one swell foop…
Always the caveat for signaling that there’s intent to only give it to the deserving white rural Christians, not those mooching lazy welfare queen urban brownies…
Personally I’d rather wait and get $2K. On the other hand there are lots of people in deep shit out there. GOPs always like waiting to the last second. That was expected. Somewhat unexpected was Trump tossing the hand grenade. It’s going to be a long 28 days.
I’ve been saying since Election Day that Trump would have a problem deciding who he hates more - Democrats, or Republicans telling him not to let the door hit him on the way out.
As a matter of politics in the middle of a close election the President handed her an opportunity to be other than she is, an enemy of the working class, and argue that Republicans are their true ally. Instead she told everyone who she and they really are and put herself in opposition to a president from her own party.
No wonder Trump wanted Governor Kemp to name someone else appointed. Actually, someone else (Collins) paid off Trump and Trophy Wife’s husband paid off Kemp and Kemp got to make the appointment.
“Mr. Trump is an enigma. He is complicated, as am I. He has both good and bad, as do we all,” Cohen said. “But the bad far outweighs the good, and since taking office, he has become the worst version of himself. He is capable of behaving kindly, but he is not kind. He is capable of committing acts of generosity, but he is not generous. He is capable of being loyal, but he is fundamentally disloyal.”
If they really want to pressure the senators, putting it up for unanimous consent in the house is really stupid. In reality, NO ONE actually involved in the negotiations has any intention of doing anything about this except making a show and blaming it on others.
