A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Responding to this hilarious Washington Post report on how nobody wants to be Trump’s lawyer now, David Schoen, one of the defense attorneys who represented Trump during his second impeachment trial, insisted on CNN yesterday that “it’s a great honor for anyone to represent” Trump. And yes, Schoen was “approached a couple of months ago about being a liaison with the Justice Department,” he told CNN.
Gillespie county should have no problem finding 3 new volunteers to act as their ‘election’ officials. Plenty of members of the local terrorist cell, aka the republican party, who’ll happily volunteer and also guarantee 110% of the legitimate votes will be for the cult approved fascist candidates.
Weisselberg testimony. Is there anything in US law that would implicate officers and directors of a closely held company like the Trump Organization in tax fraud? In other words, if Wesselberg testifies against Trump Org and it is convicted, do Trump and family get swept in somehow?
I ask because Canada’s tax law explicitly makes officers and directors liable along with the company if taxes are not withheld and remitted. It usually isn’t used unless the offence is egregious (for example, if the assets are stripped out of the company), but it is well understood as a deterrent.
they never heard of Trump’s so-called “standing order” to declassify any White House documents that get taken to his Mar-a-Lago resort.
Well it was a “special secret classified order” …so the logic devolves into sophomoric amateur logic …“if a tree falls in the woods … but no one is there to hear it … the tree still fell”
Trump, of course, says it’s FAKE NEWS and he’s very happy with his “legal team” of off-brand losers, the OANN presenters, parking lot general counsels, you know, the best of the best. Of course, Philippe Petit looks down from the cable between the Twin Towers and says “Dude, you must admit your situation is precarious,” but fuggedaboudit everything’s jake. “Most importantly,” Trump says, “I did nothing wrong. Thank you!” Just another day of lunacy from the former president of the United Fucking States. Time for brekkers.
