I thought that originally, and I still think it’s a strong possibility. But another possibility is that they refused on principle, because they like trampling on the rules. After all, it was an honor system and nobody was going to force them to be tested. Yet another way for Trump to have something he controlled.
It’s also weirdly in line with the archetypal conservative inability to feel empathy. Only if something has happened to you can you understand that it’s a bad thing and that it shouldn’t happen to others.
Not so sure about that part.
White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows thinks people are overreacting
This administration is one long saga of feigning ignorance about that long tail of TP on its shoe heel.

Perrine opined. “The president has coronavirus right now, he is battling it head on, as toughly, as only President Trump can.
All you other losers that die just don’t have what it takes to fight COVID.
Not even two full days later, he tests positive.
Nope, not buying that that was just a coincidence.
I doubt that Donnie ever got tested all that often. He refused testing for a long time at the outset of the plague, then whined like a bitch at press conferences about how they jammed that swab way the fuck up into his brain, it was the toughest thing ever and he’s very very strong for surviving it. Based on the available facts, it appears that he got rapid-tested on Thursday after Hope Hicks came back positive, then got the confirmatory PCR test with results that came back positive near midnight, dialing in to rant at Hannity in the interim.
If there was a positive test anytime before Thursday, it would have leaked by now.
Every time I see these black SUVs I’m reminded of a Russian businessman telling me they were the choice of Russian mafia. He would chuckle when he saw one on our roads.
This from the NYT web site:
- Trump did not disclose to the country the first positive virus test result he received, The Wall Street Journal reported. That first positive test came Thursday during the day. He appeared on Fox News that night and said he was awaiting his test result, which was in fact a follow-up test. [emphasis added]
My personal conspiracy theory is that they hoped Trump would be asymptomatic and that they could just cover his status up (and that they knew before he went to Bedminster).
With all due respect, you have never accepted coincidence as a plausible explanation for anything.
I don’t know. I could see him charging a buck.
Okay, that’s my favorite “like” ever.
“The reality is this was a dangerous move. There is no medical benefit for this to have taken place.” -@DrPhillipsMD tells @SavannahGuthrie the president’s drive outside Walter Reed put Secret Service agents and others at risk.
Since when does Trump cares about his lackeys? The only thing that surprises me is that Trump didn’t wave a bible, probably Ivanka was around to carry it.
That’s really good.
I’m just waiting for Donnie to finish his apotheosis, shuffle off his mortal coil and assume that place in the Godhead for which he is so obviously over-qualified.
Because with this gang, the only things that appear to be coincidences are because we haven’t found out the whole story yet.
Like, say, the coincidence of Ukraine aid being held up, and Bolton being fired/resigning.
Total coincidences until a certain phone call showed up.
Trump himself blamed military and police personal for infecting Hope H.
I’m blaming the flying fickle finger of fate.
