Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) were the only Republican senators to oppose Patel’s confirmation.
So, as I predicted, after all of McConnell’s recent Nay votes for nominees that still got confirmed, when his vote actually mattered, he voted to confirm the vile Kash Patel. Surprise, surprise, surprise…NOT!
His vote against wasn’t needed since the two women were already on board.
It’s not a unanimous confirmation, as none of these were, but the statement votes against are recorded. Not sure when Susan and Lisa are up again, but by the time they are, there will be so many more egregious votes that, should they run again, might (just might) cost them their seats.
Then again, both are old enough, they could die in office and then it won’t matter.
In some ways I hold McConnell even more responsible than Trump and Musk because unlike them he is not mentally ill and is well informed. At first he said out loud who and what Trump was but soon folded. There had to be some Republicans who would have followed him if he’d had the courage to be their leader.
Oh, I am not convinced of that. Someone who can see the disaster plainly in front of his face and then turn away as though it doesn’t exist? There’s something very wrong there.
McConnell will go down in long-term history as a spineless toady that could’ve affected the path of history, but chose to be a coward because his wife would lose her comfy seat in the Cabinet.
You could be right but he doesn’t fit the medical descriptions of mental illness. He did knowingly put party and his Senate position ahead of his oath of office so something was very wrong. At a minimum it was a lack of ethics.
There is no way on God’s green earth to polish this turd. I’m old enough to have seen administrations of both parties come and go. I remember the watershed event of republicans taking control of congress in 1994. That was pretty ominous. That said, I have never felt such a sense of foreboding doom for the country.
It was inevitable, the Republicans are the majority and are afraid they would be primaried if they did not confirm the crooked, Insurrectionist bast*rd Patel. But it is still sad.
The bad news is a lot of hard working Government employees may have to spend money for attorneys. The good news is that no Grand Jury will ever indict, because no actual laws were broken.
In addition, more then a few of those who are falsely accused will probabally bring a lawsuit against the FBI and Mr. Patel (yeah, it’s a thing). And if Patel and Trump flunky Bondi are foolish enough to investigate the Convicted Felon’s so called enemies something like this may yet happen:
