In case the true purpose of MAGAland’s January 2021 Pence election-pressure campaign weren’t already clear up until this point, former President Donald Trump helpfully spelled it out in no uncertain terms on Sunday.
What have we here? 
I really don’t want to hear a single legal commentator talk about the challenges of proving Trump’s intent, state of mind, or hard evidence of that. Any jury if presented with the multiple Trump quotes about the insurrection + the testimony from those who observed him will have little trouble concluding that Trump intended to stay in power by any means necessary and sought to overturn the election results.
If prosecutors don’t go after this, then it proves that all prosecutions are about political calculus.

When people tell you who they are, believe them. Listen to them. Then prosecute them. Right away!

He’s hiding the fox among the pigeons, because he knows it’s this or the slam. This is an attempt to get out front of what the courts and Congress are going to hit him with…convictions and jail time if not a noose-dangle.

This is of a piece with the interviews that Navarro and Epshteyn recently gave, in which they admitted the “Green Bay sweep” plan with the phony electors. There’s incredibly damaging stuff that will be coming out of the Select Committee within the next month or so, and they’re just trying to soften up the gullible public by normalizing the electoral subversion. Why else would anyone admit to something so outrageous?
Why not he thinks that republican politicians and voters will do whatever it takes to put him back in office so he can avoid justice.
The GOP eliminated the idea of two parties working within a system accepted by both. One is committed to fascism and cheating.
So the word “political” has lost meaning…as it should for the TV Talking Heads. They, of ALL people, should recognize that we have crossed that bridge months ago.
Him admitting that he really wanted to overthrow the election results is not unlike him saying he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue, get away with it and still be supported. The GQP has gone too far towards authoritarianism to be swayed otherwise.
