I find the following to be the most important development in the impeachment process as even gop has to agree tramp has gone mad. What you read below not only leads to a monarch, but would render all three years of court appointments useless in thwarting a Democrat presidency.
A representative for Trump argued in court that the president’s direction should supersede any prospective court ruling.

“Although Dr. Kupperman claims that he needs this Court’s guidance as to whether he should comply with the House’s attempt to subpoena his testimony, he already knows the answer,” the filing states. "He should follow the directive of his former employer (the President) to not testify pursuant to the President’s invocation of Dr. Kupperman’s absolute immunity from testimonial compulsion.”
The filing argues that the “proper course” would be for Kupperman to abide by Trump’s insistence that his administration not cooperate with the impeachment process rather than whatever a judge ultimately determines.

Leaving the presidency with a full pardon for all past crimes is the only thing that will keep Trump from prison after his reign of error is over.
And the only way he’ll get any pardon at all is by resigning under the condition that his successor gives him one … or by giving himself a pardon and hoping that SCOTUS still has a Republican majority when the case eventually winds its way to the Supreme Court, forcing them to rule on whether or not a president can pardon himself.
Even if “absolute immunity” existed - and the Court would first have to find that such a thing exists - doesn’t immunity mean you don’t have to testify, but you still can if you choose to do so? A privilege means you can’t testify if the person who holds the privilege exerts it.
IANAL, but isn’t this the difference?

I’ll appease myself by saying I wanna see him indicted, hauled into court to stand trial like the criminal he is, humiliated in public in full view of the world.

Two possibilities:
Either Barr said it to him to get him to shut up and get on the helicopter, or those are really, really powerful drugs.
