I think that at a certain point every adult is morally obliged to be a decent person and not take out their anger, however justified, on people who had nothing to do with its source. I’m willing to cut people some slack here, but at a certain point tough love or something stronger has to kick in, or else you’re just an enabler of selfish, infantile, destructive and self-destructive behavior. We all have the power to surmount our anger, or at least sublimate it. It’s what growing up is all about.

Btw not knocking adults who light up, although it’s not for me. And I realize that teens have been doing it since whenever. But it’s still wrong, for health and other reasons, when you’re that young, especially if it’s a regular thing and not just concerts or parties.
You are right, but I think compassion and humility are good, too. I have been working with anger all my life. And will continue until my last breath.
I know a few docs who would probably be in jail for murder if they hadn’t become surgeons. However, I don’t really know if their murderous thoughts ever went away.

One never knows. My daughter’s boss is the daughter of a mob guy who died in prison. My daughter’s employer is engaged in public service work. I’m acquainted with a PhD psychologist whose uncle was an enforcer for the mob in Chicago. I have a friend, retired teacher and musician whose uncle was mob in Las Vegas. Ditto for another friend from Chicago – yes, uncle a mob guy. So sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree. The reverse can happen too. I recently heard of the son of two solid citizens. Son got tangled up with mob types, is facing prison.
Let us be more specific. Trump made an appeal to RACISTS. They are certainly not ALL White Americans. That was a despicable speech from start to finish.
Now many come from inner cities, where it’s one of the few ways to get out and ahead.
Nobody thinks we’re genetically superior. The Republican Party is committed to changing their minds.

In my opinion, most criminals are far better persons with far better ethics and morals than any Trump has. I suspect that most people become criminals because they have few other options in life, given the circumstances in which they were born. As such, there is hope for their offspring once they are given a chance to move out of the negative criminal environment. Trumps have chosen to be immoral, unethical, traitorous criminals after having been given every advantage in life. Don’t waste your time hoping any Trump spawn will break the cycle.

It’s a huge straw man argument. That’s all. Few, if any, are calling conservatives those names. Goldberg is a master of the straw man argument. He’s rebutting an argument that has not been presented.
Then he presents a cartoonish caricature of liberals. He does this again and again. He’s the token conservative columnist in US dailies and weeklies across the US. He’s a friggin’ idiot, but his readers think guys like him are “smart”.
