Routine by court procedural standards perhaps but not ever something that needed to be determined by SCOTUS in the first place. The case could have referred back to the Court of Appeals. This is the first time a pResident has fought to keep his business tax returns kept from the public in modern times.

Still think they’re going to end up punting and refusing cert, but by allowing a few more days to submit arguments, they at least go through the motions of giving it due consideration.
