Trump Loyalist In Top Intel Post Is Named NSA General Counsel After Pressure From WH | Talking Points Memo

Michael Ellis, a Trump loyalist who was named senior director for intelligence on the National Security Council earlier this year, has been tapped by the Pentagon general counsel to be the top lawyer at the National Security Agency, according to the Washington Post on Monday.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1343862

Last year, then-NSC official, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman … testified to the House Intelligence Committee that Ellis first proposed moving the record of Dolt 45’s phone call with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky into the NSC’s top-secret codeword system…

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that there will be an irreversible, permanent hardware error destroying that codeword system within, say, 70 days.

They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point, aren’t they?

all of this has the feeling of an attempted coup.

He has no other reasons to fire people and install loyalists in charge of intelligence and the military right now.

If there really was a “deep state,” these fuckers would have had incriminating evidence planted on their computers or phones months ago. I guess I’ve watched too many movies.

Yeah, this sort of shit points to having lawyers in the right places at the right time to give the thumbs-up to bad things you want to do but don’t have legal cover for when actual lawyers look at it.

See: Yoo, John.

Yeah, they’re going out fighting.

But they spent the requisite amount of time waiting so they could move forward with a legal strategy to produce a barely favorable electoral outcome. So far Barr and McConnell are on board. If they get anywhere close to overturning the election I think enough Republicans will defect to keep them from succeeding. But the further they go, the closer to treason, and the more desperate they will get. So, you know, not a good thing.

Sooo, incoming NSA administrators, you can start by looking at every document this guy accessed and every order he gave.

Need to start seeing these signs outside the WH.

I somehow feel this is called helping someone pad one’s resume. And these are the kind of folks I don’t want left off the investigation list of “persons of interest”.

He probably doesn’t have many other employment prospects at the moment.

Seems to me that after January 20 their close association with the criminal Trump should be sufficient cause to revoke their security clearance – permanently.

That is what it feels like. Or sending errand boy to root through secure files for Vlad one more time. Or delusional Hail Mary to find evidence of spying on him.

Okay I am going full paranoid. He wants to find out how cyber defense stopped the hacking attack on the vote.

Not surprising at all

Actual site does show PA not called.

ETA: Seeing elsewhere that RCP may never have called it in the first place, so not a reversal.

It seems like there might be people in the NSA who are actual loyal to their oath to the constitution and have the skills to copy and secure any information that the current administration is going to try to hide or destroy. I mean, let’s think about what this agency does…

I keep thinking, every time they accuse someone of something, it becomes clear they did it first and solely. I keep thinking that they do this so ineptly, they fall into their own carefully devised, super duper live trap. And they scurry and claw at the sides to get out. Rudy’s Hunter Hunt turned into a Snipe Hunt. Billy B. has yet to convict and Lock Up anyone in the Biden camp. Hillary roams the land free to rampage and snark at will. I keep thinking, it will go away one day and here we are seeing more masks being worn and numbers rising to the ceiling. And I keep thinking, they ballyhoo ballot fraud and they want legal and accurate counts and wondering what cliff they are about to step off of now. For some reason, I think I am calm enough to run off to a landscaping company and ask them to redesign my yard to fit that mood.

This is just the kind of guy we can take comfort in seeing get a new position like this … right when a new administration is coming in and might - if you’re not very careful, corrupt, and criminal - see certain things that might make some people’s lives a little more difficult going forward.

I’d add that Peter Strozk and Andrew McCabe (for whom an indictment was actually sought from a grand jury) are both pursuing credible wrongful dismissal lawsuits. After going through some of Donnie’s ‘things,’ they nonetheless emerged completely able to do so.
