A lot of this stuff happens during a transition.
Sometimes – not necessarily in this case – it’s an attempt to “burrow in” – that is, to move political partisans deeper into the bureaucracy so that it is more difficult for the next administration to remove them.

Maybe to get all those shredders revved up early, to change the combinations on all the lockboxes and vaults (refer to bad movies like National Treasure), to change the computer codes, give administrator access and backdoor entry to Russia’s GRU and fancybear, and to put a capital “T” on every fucking thing as they head out the door to spite the incoming administration. Btw, the lowercase “t” in tRump will be permanently disabled by every last one of tRump’s lackeys as they head out the door.

President Donald Trump’s eldest son and his girlfriend, a Trump campaign fundraiser and former Fox News host, have made it clear to campaign and White House officials they are unhappy with RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who they view as not having done enough to win a close race.
Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle could seek leadership roles at the RNC to position the committee for a comeback run for the President in 2024, the sources said.
“Don Jr. and Kimberly have an eye on the RNC, through themselves taking over or somebody close to them taking over,” a well-placed Republican Party source close to the White House said.
Trump Jr. is seen as a prolific fundraiser inside the party as well as a popular figure in his father’s grassroots base.
You are not paranoid when they are really trying to destroy democracy. Getting rid of the top lawyer in NSA when you’ve already lost the election doesn’t bode well for our Republic. I agree with someone I read earlier on this site who posited trying to get into those code word servers to destroy the verbatim notes of conversations he has had with his dictator buddies.
One of my recurring nightmares is born of Trump’s endless projection; I fear he may have been using his political appointees to plumb the depths of Federal agencies to find kindred spirits who could be turned into Trump’s very own “deep state.” This would, of course, be used to kneecap the incoming administration as per Vladimir’s final instructions.
