President Trump’s failure to declare an emergency over the COVID-19 outbreak could deprive virus-riddled states of needed resources as the pandemic continues, a former FEMA chief told TPM.
“Politico reported on Wednesday that Trump was opposed to the idea out of concern that it would contradict his message that the virus is comparable to the seasonal flu…”
“…before describing Trump as ‘authentic’, ‘refreshing’, and ‘a guy who’s not afraid to shake things up’.”
The hell they haven’t. This stuff has probably been modeled hundreds of times at the defense dept never mind all the university and think tank studies or programs run in other countries.
But, sure, let’s have Jared look something up.
This isn’t just the usual malevolence tempered by incompetence, this is murder.
An 86 year old man is still awaiting a test as of this morning’s news. Doctors have none and they are saying that CDC requires that he first be tested for all other possible respiratory conditions before he can get that test. This is in Puerto Rico. I honestly don’t think the man will live long enough to complete their preliminary tests. This is the 5th suspected case in PR, no tests = none confirmed. I guess it’ll come down to a contest – will red state, Fox-fueled ignorance or underfunding of blue states produce the greatest casualties? And who will Donald blame?
There is an old brain-teaser type puzzle: Say you have a pond and it has a special kind of lilypad in the middle of it. This special lilypad can reproduce once a day but can only produce one new lily pad. So at the end of the second day there are two lily pads. Third day there are four. Say the pond is half covered after 30 days, how long does it take to cover the whole pond? Yeah, one more day. You should be able to figure out that on the 23rd day, they are barely noticeable. This is what causes pandemics - is isn’t too late until it is.
To Trump declaring an emergency would mean he was wrong and we all know all his statements are perfect.
Everyone knows we are going to die, sometime ,so what is the big deal compared to the economy.
