Trump Impeachment Lawyers Are Now Representing Alleged Capitol Rioters | Talking Points Memo

“It’s unclear how the onetime Trump defense attorneys came to represent clients charged in connection with the events on Jan. 6…”

The DOJ has probably intervened and is paying for the defense costs. Plus they want those prosecuting the defendants to replace them as the targets of the suit, inserting the U.S. government as the new defendants.

Or something like that.

Whatever makes the least sense.

That’s how the DOJ rolls.

That’s not how any of this works.

Bingo. The lust for justice is a side effect.

Wait what?
It actually works?

Sure it is. Then when it’s over Merrick Garland tells Biden to pardon Trump. Thus saving the snail darter.

Yes, but they don’t generally run a “try and then buy” carousel with their lawyers.

You’re being a performative idiot. Stop.

No stacked jury this time.

“Idiot”

He who casts the first ad hominem has lost the argument.

I don’t often agree with @steeviedee but we should be collegial and respectful regardless.

You’re just saying that because of the Omaha Steaks I sent you.

It’s not ad hominem when you are describing factually.

  1. Criminal attorneys make the prosecution prove their case well enough to convince a jury of the defendant’s guilt. That’s how the justice system works in this country.
  2. Defendants are entitled to all the justice they can afford or can be provided to them. Good luck finding out who is paying for the lawyers. That’s how the rich and well connected stay above the law in this country.

We have the best legal system that money can buy.

I don’t know if the lawyers that defended Trump during his impeachments trials are any good. They could have gone in and told the senators that they were a bunch of useless bastards not fit for Trump to piss on them, and they will still had voted to acquit him .

An ex of mine, back in the mid 70s, sued a girl in small claims court. Alleged she failed to deliver some pot after being fronted the money. Defendant was incredulous she was being sued for such a claim. Judge asked her if she reneged on a promise to deliver property in exchange for money. Ex had a witness there to back her up. Girl said yes, she kept the money, but how the hell can she be sued for failing to complete an illegal transaction? Judge said that was immaterial, she reneged on a promise. Found for the ex, and ordered restitution.

Hilarious.

It’s the defendants and/or their families. There are no big-money benefactors out there aiming to save these losers with low-rent Trump impeachment lawyers. Only MAGA insurrectionists would be stupid enough to think that their ticket to acquittal is Mike van der Ween.
