Trump: If I Can't Have the Kennedy Center, No One Can

The Grinding Long Haul of Trump II The news this week is littered with examples indicating that accountability for the depredations of Trump II — if it ever comes — will be so slow, drawn-out, exhausting, and limited that it will never feel satisfying, complete, or just. Part of that is the nature of the…

Trump: If I Can’t Have [fill in the blank], No One Can

That has kind of of been his mantra since he was a toddler.

And speaking of CBS - 60 Minutes is off to a great start.

Pressured two, only one caved.

“It’s like a Seinfeld episode: no story arc, but instead a flat line with no growth or discovery.“

Just a continuous Elaine chicken dance.

In August, WIRED obtained front-end code for Flock’s police software, now called OS Investigate and previously known as Nightshift, and reconstructed portions of the tool. That software showed how Flock can use the records generated by its cameras, along with police files and commercial data, to identify drivers, surface vehicles that repeatedly travel together, and search for people based on patterns of movement. The data provides a view of the other end of a system.

When the crimes against humanity trials are held the section regarding crimes committed against arts and culture should be held at the Kennedy Center. Hopefully one that is refurbished to its original grandeur.

EU Leader Embraces Canadian Proposal

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said publicly she would work to make Canada the EU’s first associate member — a goal of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as he looks for shelter from the Trump II storm.

On Sunday we told you the Wall Street Journal had sniffed out secret talks about Canada becoming an “associate member” of the European Union. Ottawa flapped about and denied it “in any capacity.” We called it a trial balloon.

Turns out it wasn’t a balloon. It was a save-the-date, and the invitations were already at the fucking printer.

Wednesday morning in Strasbourg, in front of 700-odd members of the European Parliament and every camera on the continent, Ursula von der Leyen stood at the podium of her State of the European Union address, looked directly at Mark Carney sitting in the chamber as the first non-European leader ever invited to attend the thing, and said the quiet part at full volume:

“And dear Mark, I said we must urgently re-imagine our partnerships. So I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to being the first associate member of the European Union.”

The chamber lost it. Sustained applause, a standing ovation, and Carney invited up to the podium for a handshake in front of the whole world. The bloke collects standing ovations in Europe the way Trump collects indictments…

I have seen this movie before. Years ago I knew someone whose significant other received a terminal diagnosis and then tried to beat them to death with a hammer. Life-altering injuries.

It is a thing. It does happen. It is happening right now.

If Trump demolishes the Kennedy Center in the middle of the night because he can’t put his tramp stamp on it, we’ll just have to erect a glorious Obama Center in its place.
