It is difficult for me to imagine a more unfit person for high (or any) elected office than donald trump. Never in my memory has someone assumed they could be electable if dealing with 3 civil trials, 4 criminal indictments with trials in process along with (so far) 91 felony counts. Back in 1988, for instance, Gary Hart was running for election. A rumor of an affair surfaced prompting Hart to not only quit the race but withdraw from politics entirely. Imagine, if you can, trump behaving like that. We know of multiple affairs he has had and his disgraceful comment about being free to grab women by private body parts simply because he thinks he;s a star. As I say … there is no other more dishonorable or disgraceful person in politics since the founding of America. And that is saying something considering our checkered political history.

Donald Trump enjoyed hearing that he had drawn praise from the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the former US president and frontrunner for the 2024 Republican White House nomination has said.
Told during a recorded interview with the new NBC Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker that Putin had fawned over his stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Trump replied: “I like that he said that. Because that means what I’m saying is right.”

The hard physical evidence does not matter to these people. This is the crowd that thought JFK Sr and Jr were gonna meet trump at Dealey Plaza in Dallas where they were gonna administer an oath of office and crown trump. Hundreds of people actually believed this shit and showed up expecting to see the ceremony. Apparently being very obviously dead is no impediment to the trump Q crowd.

I think that most of DFG’s supporters don’t care about the truth and are not really sure what to believe. But they support him because they are bigoted, misogynistic morons who think they got tax cuts or something. Maybe a wall.
Reality is irrelevant; hate and greed are the driving forces.

Great article. However, it’s missing some context about Jews and their relationship to whiteness. As an ethnic group, Jews historically have not always been considered white. Hitler certainly didn’t think Jews were white and neither did the Unite the Right fascists who marched in Charlottesville and chanted “Jews will not replace us”! This is why anti-semitism is a form of racism.
It was really only after World War II and the horrors of the Holocaust that Jews became more firmly to be considered white. This history also points out how malleable whiteness is as a concept.
I would have expected this kind of context to be included in such a detailed article.

My dear close elderly cousin was killed in the Tree of Life massacre in Pittsburg. The Tree of Life Massacre was the worst atrocity perpetrated against Jewish people in American history.
I don’t think its a coincidence that this slaughter occurred during Trump’s Presidency. Trump has made bigotry and division the hallmarks of his campaigns and of his Presidency. When he released the genie of White House-sanctioned bigotry over the land, he could not steer or control the consequences. As the murderous perpetrator unloaded his guns into mostly elderly innocents, he was screaming about the so-called immigrant “caravan”, George Soros and Jewish organizations, conspiratorial lies he heard directly from Trump and then House Minority Leader McCarthy.
While Jewish people like my cousin may not have been among Trump’s targets, they were and are among the collateral damage, caught in the crossfire stimulated by his bigotry and his elevation of hard-core racists, anti-Semites, and homophobes.
I continue to hold Trump’s constant racial provocations and the silence about his ethnic, racial and other provocations on the part of the Republican Party largely responsible for the murder of my family member.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why so many Jewish folks support Trump. I guess Jews succumb to the same diseases–racism, homophobia, greed–just like so many other humans/Americans.
