That is the hard thing to reconcile. Trump is understandable as a failed human experiment. Trying to grasp how so many people ride along with him, that is another. A portion of our population has been revealed to be counter to almost any norm we expect. When Trump came along, they crawled out of the wood work and feel bold in saying and doing those things they have kept hidden inside. Trump may go away one day, but we still have the population to deal with.

Just like any abusive relationship, you won’t see clearly unless/until you finally do. And like anyone who DOES see, and who who doesn’t want to get pulled into the vortex of dysfunction, we need to detach from those who are still under the spell, and focus on our own work (Blue in 2020), while remaining available if/when they come to their senses. Hoping they will (we can use all the sanity we can get), but for now, despite ALL THE EVIDENCE, they’re choosing their path.
And we have to choose ours.

With his arm around Trump’s shoulder no less. Do you suppose the baby is on pain meds for this photo? I can’t image strapping a baby with multiple broken bones into his car seat and driving across town for the purpose of appearing in a photo op. A decent president would have gone to the injured child vs making the child travel to him, but then our president isn’t a decent person. Evidently kid’s uncle isn’t either. Who does that?

OK I’m going to go way out on an intuitive limb here and say it’s always been an unscientific observation of mine that certain societies seem to have an element that has institutionalized its own low-information thuggish quality. They think it’s how to be. And we’re one of those societies. If you doubt this come visit and we’ll go to a Philadelphia sporting event and you can judge for yourself.
