WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Unemployment benefits for millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet were set to lapse at midnight Saturday unless President Donald Trump signed an end-of-year COVID relief and spending bill that had been considered a done deal before his sudden objections.
He’s crazy. He doesn’t care.
That’s it.
The last levers he has which he can pull. If the Funding and NDAA pass, nobody needs him for anything anymore.
I’m just pleasantly surprised it took him this long to figure that bit out. Means everything may only shut down for about three weeks.
It’s not a chess game. It’s a game of lawn darts in a crowded swimming pool.

The only thing Trump is good at is destroying things. He has set his sights on destroying the GOP and is doing a pretty good job of it.

I understand Trump’s a huge fan of “It’s A Wonderful Life”, watched it every year growing up, and even acted out his favorite scenes as a child. He still has the toy wheelchair his parents bought him to sit in.
Only thing crazier than a crazy person is someone trying to predict what that aforementioned crazy person is going to do.
…So I think he’s going to play the savior and sign the bill at the last minute or after a very short shutdown because it doesn’t really benefit him to drag it out.
Never, ever forget that it is the governing Republicans who proved that government does not work.

Think he’s really going to jump over the deep end on this one, run out the clock without vetoing but with the government shut down until the legislation expires at midnight on January 2nd, and the new Congress has to start all over on January 3rd.
He is not in his right mind. IOW, he is further away from ‘right’ than previously. His mind is scribbling in the margins and drawing pictures in the air.
That’s what I mentioned to my daughters, too! At some point, though, a smart politician realizes there is nothing to be lost by speaking up.
What’s his game? Is this a FU for losing to Biden?

Does he somehow think a Government Shutdown will prevent a change in Government? Oh the government is shutdown, we can’t ratify the EC guess Trump gets to remain President!?
