Originally published at: Trump Defense Sec: Believe Him When He Says He’ll Use Military Against Americans - TPM – Talking Points Memo
Over the weekend, Trump rolled out his now-familiar promise to deploy the military against Americans with a chilling, new description of his political opponents: “the enemy from within.” Now, yet another of Trump’s former administration officials is sounding the alarm on just how seriously we need to take Trump’s promises to his base. In response…
Hey donnie
Got my ballot today
Guess who I will not vote for
FIRST!!!
Professor Cat likes to yell at his computer when unasked for images of trump show up.
How else will Trump become a dictator, even for a day, if he doesn’t have the threat of force?
Of course, he will use the National Guard and whatever else he can against US residents and citizens.
Who exactly are these “radical left lunatics”?
I don’t see them.
Anyone that isn’t one of his disciples.
81 million people?
Then Democratic voters are the worst leftists of all time.
The insane bobbing to the music town hall craziness seems to be everywhere today. Everyone is underlining his complete mental breakdown. (Finally.)
We will see what the Generals have to say.
Nicole Wallace had it running in a box in the lower part of the screen during the first half of her show so that viewers could get a real sense of how weird it was for 40 MINUTES.
Anyone who votes against him, I imagine. I guess he plans to sic the military on millions.
Following my completely unscientific poll of white suburban women near me, it sounds like that will include a lot of former republicans.
I love this cat nerd!
Mrs. Awiztherewas and I are leaving for Singapore and Cambodia before the Election. Depending on the circumstances here we may end up seeking asylum
I was sitting behind a pickup truck waiting to pick up my kids from school. The truck had several stickers, including, “Ladies for Rush”, “Build the Wall”, “Trump 2024”, “there is something special between a girl and her truck,” an “Exist” sign made out of firearm, and a custom hitch with iron crosses. It was a bit much, but she clearly wanted us all to know where she stands: with hate. There was no reasonable issue that she was complaining about. She wasn’t, for example, advocating against abortion. She wasn’t critiquing anything that hurt her. Instead, the vibe of her truck, her messaging, and the dark look in her eyes were all suspicious and hateful.
What was the point of all of this? It certainly wasn’t political, because none of those messages are direct political appeals. They are signs of tribal membership, unveiled threats against people not in the tribe. Why? Why does everyone need to know?
Perhaps the answer comes from my own fear. I don’t put up yard signs. I I don’t put signs in my car. This is because I have learned that all I do with either of those is invite vandalism.
Perhaps the point is to scare me. If it is, it’s working.
My wife wants to go to a conference in DC in November. I don’t think that’s a good idea, but I never say or suggest anything that might harm her career to her, because it’s the least I can do. Still nervous about it. I hope she decides not to go, but I certainly won’t lobby her against it.
I’m not sure which events would lead to a safer DC: a Trump loss or a Trump victory. In the very short run, that is. Obviously a Trump victory would be a disaster for all of America in the long run.
The Harris Administration will still be in charge after the Election, so all should be safe. Competent, Democratic Administration.

Well, that means another trip to “Ammo is Us”.
In response to Trump’s weekend remarks to Fox News, his former Defense Secretary Mark Esper was asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins whether he has real concerns about Trump trying to use the “National Guard, the military, against U.S. citizens” if he wins in a few short weeks.
“Yes I do, of course,” Esper said Monday in response to Collins’ question. “Because I lived through that, and I saw over the summer of 2020 where President Trump and those around him wanted to use the National Guard in various capacities in cities such as Chicago and Portland and Seattle.”
Why the hell isn’t this on the front page of every newspaper or on every network in America. It just isn’t. The press is so damn deluded it won’t report. that Trump is truly dangerous.
this phrase is usually followed with “Adam Schiff”
It is deeply disturbing that the right, and especially Donald Trump, build this straw caricature of their political opponents that looks nothing like their opponents, and everything like themselves. It is fundamentally weird and disorienting. The person with the car in front of me with all the Trump and White nationalist symbolism doesn’t hate me, she hates a caricature of me. She can’t imagine I am fundamentally different from her, and assumes I represent a symmetrical opposite to her.
