Originally published at: Trump & Co Decide Individual Federal Judges Do Have Too Much Power After All
It’s no surprise that an expanding group of federal district judges, appointed by presidents of both parties, are systematically blocking President Trump’s and Elon Musk’s power grabs. This is, after all, how the system works. Yet Trump’s advisors are outraged. “If a district court judge wants control over the entire executive branch…he should run for…
Um, no: it simply confirms the core principle that there is an in-group that laws are meant to protect and not bind while binding and not protecting others; this is consistent. Insisting judges get the unbound in-group right is the trick.
ETA: there is only one principle essential to democracy and that is laws effect all equally; so goes that principle, so goes democracy, which is why oligarchs and tyrants strive to reverse it.
“A federal judge ordered the F.B.I. on Monday to disclose some of the records it has continued to keep secret in its case file on the now-defunct investigation into President Trump’s mishandling of classified materials.
Judge orders FBI to release some information in Trump documents case
His immunity does not protect him this time.
Rolling corruption, rolling coup, rolling authoritarianism. Some headlines suggest we are on the verge of a Constitutional crisis. Verge? We are already deeply in a crisis!
“If a district court judge wants control over the entire executive branch…he should run for president,” Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Aryan White Supremacy Stephen Miller tweeted Tuesday.
FIFY
Stephen Miller should be required to sit in a large tub of roaches on a regular basis to make his exterior more like his soul.
Kate seems a little overwhelmed this evening. Is there such a thing as outrage fatigue ? Where you have covered such a never ending onslaught of attacks on the entire democratic system that you are consumed by numbness ? I kinda doubt it, she’s always seemed a bundle of energy. Channeling it all to the next podcast hopefully….
Trump and his cohort are actively softening the ground to ignore a court order — which would spark a full-blown constitutional crisis
But a federal judge in Rhode Island ruled yesterday that Trump & Entourage were already disobeying a court order (namely, the order blocking the grant/funding cut-off)
I get it. Its numbness filled with disgust. The energy levels slowly go down each and every attack.
What do you have against roaches?
In truth, I can’t stand the little buggers. But Pee-wee German is worse.
“Wenn ein Richter die Kontrolle über die gesamte Exekutive haben will… Er sollte für das Präsidentenamt kandidieren,” Gauleiter Pee Wee German tweeted Tuesday.
But his monarchical power will.
I’m genuinely surprised Trump let Musk speak to the press from the Oval Office.
Rump signed more EOs requiring Fed Departments to accept DOGE Leaders and implement DOGE requirements. Also, hire only 1 replacement for every 4 employee vacancy (i.e., fired).
The thing that screws my nut is Musk thinks he is John F Kennedy in the WH, hauling his kid(s) around like props, apparently to show he is actually human, not alien.
And, this is rich …
When asked about the Trump administration’s false claims that the United States spent $50 million to buy condoms in Gaza, Elon Musk told reporters in the Oval Office Tuesday: “Some of the things that I say will be incorrect.”
Edit: “hire only 1 replacement for every 4 employee vacancy”
Also, I saw the video of this Oval Office Daily Media event (which AP was denied since they wouldn’t name the Gulf of Mexico to the Golf of Mar-A-Lago), and Musk’s kid takes one step toward Rump, and Rump immediately shifts away even though the kid was >3 ft away. They are both aliens.
Hmmmm. Me? I was genuinely nauseated.
The fact that the Democrats can’t land even a glancing shot against the billionaire foreigner who is cutting funding for health and education programs is the most disheartening part about this.
“[The judge] should run for president”
–Stephen Miller, 2025
“So we can smear him, defame him, threaten his family, and generally ruin his life for the good of the country.”
No shit !
Like Mars is some kind of a paradise for techies, when in fact it is a hell hole and a death trap for humans. It’s exploitation is not worth 1% of the investment Musk wants the country to spend to get a few humans there on what will almost certainly be a one-way trip.
Earth is the right place for love and where we should be spending both our financial and intellectual capital. The problems of humanity are largely self-inflicted but just as daunting technologically as traveling to and terra-forming a few square miles of Mars.
Specifically we need to swiftly move the energy needs of mankind to all renewable and /or safe nuclear sources to prevent further damage to the climate. We need to find the value creation mechanization to economically feed and cloth 9 billion souls.
Finally we need to find the social economic and political systems that encourage cooperation and equality so we are not constantly trying to cut each other’s throats. We need to insure that our grasp manages our reach on all things existential to both today’s humans but also for our children’s children’s children.
Unfortunately, Musk is on the wrong side of nearly every one of these issues, probably due to his horrible upbringing and his manifest autism. He is a failed human and should not be trusted to do the moral, ethical or noble thing in any enterprise he is allowed to pursue.
We’ll see soon if they defy the courts, but they’re sure making noises like they intend to.
