You ARE the “AUTHORITIES,” Donnie. You ae the HIGHEST authority. And you already knew!!
Woodward didn’t know until YOU TOLD HIM!
Fucking asshole.

My vote is for Hunter S. Thompson as long as we’re revisiting the Watergate years.
“Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 2020” has a nice ring to it.
Plus it would be fun to read his prose on the subject.
ABC News reporter Jon Karl who bluntly asked the President: “Why did you lie to the American people?
More questions very like this please, and make them even more pointed.
“You don’t want me jumping up and down screaming there’s going to be great death and really causing serious problems for the country,” Trump said.
This is directly from the playbook of a narcissist. All narcissists are like this. It is part of the pathology.
“If Bob Woodward thought it was bad, then he should have immediately gone out publicly, not wait four months. He’s had that statement for four months, maybe five months. He’s had it for a long time.”
Blaming Bob Woodward gets ten-out-of-ten marks for textbook narc behavior. Bravo, Mr President! Not surprised one whit.
And then, a little narc icing on the cake:
“I wonder whether or not somebody like that can write good,” Trump said. “I don’t think he can, but let’s see what happens.”
Write well, perhaps, Mr President? But anyway, dissing the writer qua writer? Mr President! You are such a clever narc! The best narc! And as always, Donnie Dumbfuck farts out his default dumbfuckery “let’s see what happens” (his dumbass supporters admire this crap). The narc can not push air out of his disgusting mouth without declaring his dumbass narc mentality – which he absolutely believes is quite clever. Orange-painted fecal-matter-on-Propecia in a suit, with a tie that is too long. He has killed tens of thousands of Americans. He did that. Timothy McVeigh couldn’t touch that. Trump should not get off with a lighter sentence than McVeigh.
“You don’t want me jumping up and down screaming there’s going to be great death and really causing serious problems for the country,” Trump said.
“Because I’ve been doing that since mid-2017” he continued
Ah, we have finally found the solution to his verbose idiotic pressers.
Call him a lier. Which many of us have proposed to the media prior.
Contrary to the other article on the timing of Woodward’s revelation (the tapes sealed the deal, of course), I agree Woodward was soaking it for maximum profit, but did have to confirm Trump’s insane statements by other sources, so that is valid. The bottom line IMO is he did what others did not: he exposed the emperor has no clothes, and just before the election.
He tried to play Bob Fucking Woodward. Nothing about these interviews can be unspun or unrung. No matter how gamely his enablers and the comms shop grunt out excuses, his words are there, on tape. This wasn’t a president trying to calmly lead the nation through crisis; this was Trump simply not giving a fuck. (Rick Wilson, another born-again Repub)
Have one or several for me too. I’m 5 years sober and keeping it that way, though this last year has been rough. If I were drinking to cope with Trump my liver would have abandoned ship by now.
You mean: He are a well writer. Don’t be sloppy.
the journalist should’ve gone public with the President’s COVID-19 concerns sooner.
And if he had, what difference would it have made? Would you have done your job instead of commandeering PPE, respirators from the states, and shutting down a test and isolate program? Would you have taken the lead instead of shoving it off on the governors? Would you have shut down travel from Europe when it would have done some good? Would you have set an example of using a mask and distancing? How would your response have been different if he had published earlier?
And be careful of how you answer because the next question will be why didn’t you do those things without having to be forced.
Sheesh. Everyone’s a critic. I think in an informal medium like this it’s OK to have subject-verb agreement now and then.
My own liver just liked your comment.
At this rate it is going to be one surrogate drink per sober TPM’er, but it is a responsibility a will gladly bear for that one special night. And no driving, that is for certain!
Well, I am’t a well writer.
What is the difference between downplaying and lying? The second word seems to offer clarity.
Boy, when he said he takes no responsibility, he wasn’t kidding. Probably the only time in 4 years, he didn’t actually lie.
I, for one, thought it was well written. So I guess I’m not cut out to be a critic.
My kingdom for a good scapegoat!
This puzzles me. I think everyone here is entirely persuaded that nothing Trump could do, no outrage imaginable, would make his base abandon him. And yet large numbers of people seem to think it would have made a difference if Woodward had yelled in February or whenever he first found out that Trump was lying, downplaying the pandemic. How would that have worked? The party will not and never would confront him precisely because of that immovable, cultish base. If the party won’t move against him, he has to be voted out. This is not a subtle, gray area thing. These are brute facts that stare you right in the face.
That should be “See whether he can write WELL” you grammatically-challenged goat-f***er.
Wishful thinking and looking for a savior would be my take on what it is.
And disappointment that the latest candidate (Woodward) doesn’t measure up to this high standard.
Doesn’t matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on, it’s easy to fall into that trap.
He’s on Cloud 9.
