And if it is a paid hit?

Reporters need to ask them what social media they have been listening to.

Interesting that they found it necessary to get that radio reporter out of there. Her station says she was wearing her credential, police say she wasn’t. Who do we believe?

She says she has video to share.

Police forces operate because the neighborhoods allow them to. If they step over certain lines the lives of the police become exponentially harder.

Jesus.

This really does have to stop. I’m scared of them and I’m an old white lady. I’ve seen them knock down people my age though, even women.

Er, how does this compare to prior years?

It needs to be a two-pronged solution though, not just police reform. Getting a handle on the out of control gun culture in this country is the other problem. With fewer civilians carrying guns out there, the regular duty police might be less inclined to respond to every call as if they’re part of a SWAT team.

It will take generations to make a real change, but maybe a Democratic administration can make a start on effective gun control.

Higher, so far.

O I agree with this completely - the problem is bigger than just the police - it’s a systemic problem. It involves criminal justice reform, racism, gun control, education, and where our money is spent, among other things.

And the trend line over, say, the last twelve years?

That particular data set goes back only as far as 2013:

Depends on who paid for it.

He can’t quash it, and that’s not his responsibility. But he can speak out against it, specifically, if he hasn’t already. He mostly has spoken before I’ve had time to look for it, and it wouldn’t be like him not to say shame on you about such ugly behavior.

Perhaps. But citizens have tried reasoning with cops for decades to no avail. If cops learn what it’s like to be shot, just cuz, they may learn to re-think the wanton killing of the citizens they are supposed to protect and serve. For some communities, there can’t be much more brutality that watching their sons, fathers and brothers shot in the back and stomped on the neck daily, so if cops want to escalate, they may find out they are greatly outnumbered.

Barr has set out an inquiry as to why there’s a gap.

By contrast, there were fewer gun-related police fatalities so far this year than people killed in any one of those months (37).

Yep that’s a big If but that being said

Most civil disobedience ≠ being an asshole
now I understand one has a right to be an asshole but assholes need to understand they are not helping the cause of justice.
