The only problem with the Greenland distraction is – given the wealth of minerals, the fresh water, the land size – we can’t afford it.

Already equivocating. Not “impossible”. Not “never”. Not “not open for negotiation”.
Unlikely.
Of course once they’re a U.S. territory they’ll be denied votes in national elections, and otherwise cut out of full citizenship rights for their inhabitants. And should a natural disaster strike they’ll suddenly be a bunch of leeches on the government teat, unable to fend for themselves.

The DoD and other agencies have gone to a “Continuous Vetting” process to monitor individuals with clearances. It’s not clear to me whether this include social media posts, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
However, I am retired, no longer have a clearance, and don’t intend to work again – assuming, of course that TSF doesn’t tank my Social Security and retirement accounts.

We’d merely invade, occupy, and serve notice to both Greenland and Denmark their unwillingness to be reasonable forced our hand. It would be a bloodless coup. The current Greenland government would be deposed, driven from office, and Trump would decree a new sheriff was in town.
