Trump Backs Off NY Quarantine Idea | Talking Points Memo

How in the world did they decide to let Giuliani out of the in-patient psychiatric ward of Bellevue so soon?

Fortunately, an advisory from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency means precisely jack shit. The stay-at-home order I’m living under has a different view on critical infrastructure.

Oh, there he is. I was hoping he was stuck in Ukraine, or Moscow.

So, let’s steal tribal lands instead, because Native Americans are better at running casinos than me and my buddies.

CEC DID AN ADVISORY THIS MORNING…

Leadership around the World, approvals in the tank.

I agree with you about those complaints.

But as for this:

The man was a hypocrite.

Elie Wiesel’s Moral Imagination Never Reached Palestine
The great writer’s humanitarianism knew no bounds — except where it met his nationalism.

[…]

Wiesel did not, and could not, ever really speak critically of Israel, which he saw as the embodiment of the Jewish people, and frequently expressed a refusal to criticize Israel. He did not see himself as a nationalist, but his identification with Israel was couched so strongly in ethnic and religious terms that one is obliged to conclude he was mistaken about this.

[…]

Wiesel, too, promoted narratives that negate established history. In 2001, he suggested in the New York Times that in 1948, “Incited by their leaders, 600,000 Palestinians left the country…” The historical record, including as established by prominent Israeli historians, debunked this myth long ago. The genesis of the Palestinian refugee problem was much more messy, complex and ugly than this comfortable fantasy allows.

[…]

Wiesel’s tendency to tribalism, and even ethnocentrism, in the context of Israel is perhaps most starkly illustrated by his attitudes on Jerusalem, perhaps the most hotly contested issue between Israel and the Palestinians. In his 2001 New York Times editorial, he strongly suggested Jewish primacy in Jerusalem and strongly implied opposition to any territorial compromise in the city because “to compromise on history is impossible.”

Quite obviously, I could go on …

I’m curious: What terms of service did that tweet violate?

I didn’t even know there was such a thing till you posted. Just looked up active virus cases, in Louisiana it’s over 3000 and Alabama it’s 700.

Trump produces nothing but “floaters”, which is why there’s a tweet for every occasion and position.

Misinformation is what I’ve read.

I imagine one could read their platform rules to learn more about why it was deleted.
My biggest question is why some of Trump’s tweets are not deleted for the same reason.

Basically Rudy is simply saying … hey … it may not be right … but accept it - Trump is behaving like a tyrannical demented monarch … he needs to have his ass kissed … bow down to him if you want him to do what he is simply rightfully supposed to do.
That is where we are.
well, it worked for RUDY…

Then Trump will be president of the Necropolis.

Neuron misfire → tweet → national panic → headlines and chyrons → net appreciation analysis → official policy

I imagine so, too, but I’m also far too lazy to do that, hence the question!

Within hours of floating the idea

Donald is the jerk in creative sessions, who never lets anyone get a word in edgewise, because he thinks he’s the only guy with great ideas.

Chances that Trump wrote, or even read, that tweet? Zero x infinity.

Louisiana’s hit rate 13.18%. # of tests conducted to date: 25,161
Alabama’s hit rate 14.68% # of tests conducted to date: 4904
Alabama - Projected Cases per Million Tests (at current hit rate): 146,819
Louisiana - Projected Cases per Million Tests (at current hit rate): 131,752

Both states currently project to be worse off than California.

Based on their small sample of tests, Alabama’s problem is worse than Louisiana’s. Now, it’s entirely possible that if they were to jack up their testing, the hit rate might come down and cases might level off, but it’s probably a bit more likely that the hit rate varies by no more 5 points of this number which would mean a substantially high number of cases for a state without the resources or quality medical facilities like NY or CA.

Yep, no surprise; there will be violence before this is all over. My guess is “citizen soldiers” blocking people trying to get to or even though their bumfuck towns.
