In short: Will SCOTUS be ok with king drump or not.

Should SCOTUS take him up on his ā€œdemandā€ itā€™ll be telling of just how deep in his pocket the court is.

Donald canā€™t believe that SCOTUS is not the bought-and-paid-for shills that his corporate-schmuck lawyers are.

Just once, Iā€™d like SCOTUS to act like a ā€˜normalā€™ Supreme Court and just call tRumpā€™s effort to delay having to fork over incriminating documents a stall tactic, or at the very least decision-shopping, and refuse to take on this case, leaving the Appellate courtā€™s decision the final word. In a fair and just world that shit would happen. In tRumpworld, forgetaboutitā€¦Manipulation is all part of the grand scheme in every endeavor and a necessary cudgel in their toolbox for obstruction.

Yup, the correct thing to do is to let the lower court ruling stand and not even pick it up, but my money is for them to go along with the delay tactics and drag this out until late next year.

If they decide to delay it they are begging for Dems to add new justices to the SCOTUS once they are in a position to.

I think of all the people who had their civil rights violated, the women who tried to collectively sue Walmart only to be told that their case was too varied (all were suing about discrimination) that had worked their way up through all the courts for years until they were heard by this corporate court.
President gets almost same day service from them.

He has the right to petition for certiorari. The request for review is in accordance with the practice rules. The question is whether four of the five conservatives will vote to grant the petition so the Court takes up the case, and if so, what Roberts will do.

Regardless of what SCOTUS eventually does, I just hope the DNC, candidates, and other groups are putting together ads for the general emphasizing just how desperate Donnie is to keep his tax returns and other verifiable financial records secret from any review.

Some people who donā€™t care about Ukraine may care that heā€™s (likely) a massive tax cheat who has laughed at them for years for being stupid enough to pay taxes.

Indeed. Thatā€™s why the plan is to make sure that, no matter how dirty or illegal the methodology, the Democrats never get that chance.

Heck, it wouldnā€™t surprise me, if they manage to secure another win for Donnie, they add new justices to their majority.

The only people left in the country who havenā€™t made up their minds about voting for or against trump are clearly people who are unqualified to participate in our Democracy.

More qualified then people who vote for drump, but i agree its upsetting how people could be on the fence.

Naw. I have more respect for people who decided-- whatever their reasons-- that they support twitler. They at least made a decision.

I prefer people who are ignorant vs people who are naziā€™s, and its easier to get ignorant people to accept facts when presented to them then those who know the facts but refuse them.

Ignorant vs willfully ignorant.

The strategy here is to delay, and then hope that, somehow, they can convince Roberts to ignore the history of judicial decisions and the clear text of the law to give Trump cover on this. I doubt Roberts would go along, especially with so many cases decided by so many judges at this point, but it is possible (and the other four conservative justices will find a way to support Trump over the law). So, if things go as expected (instead of how they should, which would be an outright rejection of the cases), the decision will come out sometime in the summer (delaying more than that would be the same as deciding for Trump, and, again, I donā€™t see how Roberts can allow that kind of stain on his court).

Itā€™s actually not smart for them to try to delay this until June, because once the court decides the documents will be released. Maybe they will try to find some other legal tactic to delay, but there really isnā€™t any, and after the SC decides any other judge will have to laugh them out of court. So, the records will come out before the electionā€¦and the closer they come out the worse for Trump, because clear evidence of wrongdoing will sink him in the same way that Comeyā€™s letter sank Clinton, as it will feed into what people think about Trump and confirm the belief that heā€™s a crook. That matters to the swing voters, and will also drive Democrats to the polls to vote against him at all costs.

Compared to this, releasing the documents now is the smarter playā€¦which makes it good that they are fighting it, because it essentially shows there is really bad stuff in there.
