“He insisted that it is unfair to say Alabama was never threatened by the storm.”

I heard someone say no President has been this obsessed with Alabama’s destruction since Lincoln.

He really can’t let this go. This should’ve already been gone from the news cycle, even by just ignoring it all.

Every time he brings this up, he opens himself up to more derision. Every. Time.

OMG - please make it stop.
IN all ways this feels like a typical argument I used to have with my father-in-law when he had initially slipped into dementia.

Has anybody told Trump that until he started digging in nobody really gave a shit about including Alabama in the list. Maybe a few immediate snickers but no one was paying real attention. Now he looks like a fool.

Faced with a blank map of the US, does anyone really believe that Trump could distinguish between, say, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana? He probably confused Georgia with Alabama, but then he looked at a map and saw where Alabama really is, so he extended the cone.

Occam’s razor. The simple explanation usually is the correct one.

Yeah, but there’s another way of looking at it: words change their meaning over time.

“Liberal” may now be fairly taken to mean “in touch with reality.”

“Conservative” once had some meaning in the sense Edmund Burke understood it, but conservatives themselves, through their sectarian purges and heresy-hunting, have turned it over the last decade or so into a synonym for GOP cult member, and over the last 4 years as someone fanatically devoted to Trump.

Everyone knows facts have a liberal bent. The Right always ignore the facts in the face of this accusation of liberal bent.

Yep. Well, he’s raiding money from the Pentagon to fund his wall. Not good. Iran has chosen to build centrifuges. Not good. Putin is trying to have tRump negate all of NATO and our military in protection of Eastern Europe and the previous Soviet bloc countries with his Pentagon money shifting (per R. Maddow). Really bad. His poll numbers suck. Good for us I hope. The Bahamians are in dire straights and I haven’t heard word one about how he plans to help them. Not good. He’s stealing money from Puerto Rico appropriated to them by Congress to fund his wall. Just more bad news there. Pence gave our taxdollars to tRump’s Irish hotel and into his own pockets to enrich himself and get his property out of a financial slump of his own making. All his lackeys are leaving his maladministration for lobbying jobs in the oil and gas industry after relaxing and deregulating that industry. Evil bad stuff. Stormy With A Chance Of Meatballs is back in the news. Hearings this Fall. Bad for him, entertaining for us.

There are probably hundreds of crazy stories out there he’s trying to cover up that he’s got in the works to further screw over immigrants at the border. I guarantee he hasn’t given up on that whole citizenship issue he’s obsessed with concerning who he, Stephen Miller and Cucinelli will allow to enter the country right now. And, the ICE gestapo have really been working overtime behind the scenes.

More accurately, Alabama was never more at risk than many other states on the periphery of very early course projections for Dorian. He singled out Alabama, but that was what makes the original mistake so irrelevant and easily either ignored (for Trump) going forward or corrected without anyone seeing it as some sort of weakness.

But the “president” is so insecure and so guilty of so many things and so wrong so much of the time that he can’t let any error on his part stand lest he realize that this entire house of card fake reality will collapse. So he had to repeat the error with intent in order to justify the mistake and alter his own reality, shaving the truth a little at a time while hoping that nobody noticed. When, of course, they did notice, that set off a panic which led him to produce Sharpie-enhanced evidence (again hoping nobody would notice) and then lie about creating fake evidence.

This morning, some talking head on MSNBC tried to apply a false equivalency between Trump’s obsession with being viewed as right on his minor mistake with the media covering the story of how Trump’s psyche is so fragile that he has to reverse engineer reality to make his trivial error the truth. I’d argue that this is the most important story – Trump’s ridiculously and dangerously fragile psyche – of the entire Hurricane Dorian event. Sure, some of the Bahamas was leveled and people were killed and property was damaged there and along the east coast of the US, but the most powerful person in the world who can destroy the entire world on whim has a psyche so fragile that he doctored a weather map with a Sharpie and assumed that a) nobody would notice it was doctored AND b) everyone would view the obviously doctored map as proof he was right all along.

The “president” has lost touch with reality.
