But if Fat Ass shoots himself in the foot on 5th Avenue they’ll let him get away with it!

Trump is aiming not only to be able to fire apolitical people whenever he wants to, he also wants to bring them under tight WH control before they can do anything public facing - this is about controlling leaks as well as retribution for “saying true but bad news.”

The gap between election and inauguration at one time made sense, horse, and buggy sense. Now however it is open for abuse by any elected official that will be soon gone, does not matter which party. It is time the US joins most other nations in getting the work of a new administration going immediately. Why is it that the US needs weeks, months when even the “shithole” nations can swear in the new executive within 48 hours?

Because America is exceptional. So, so exceptional.

Can you feel the exceptionalism?

Excellent point of view.

We’ve never needed stringent Lame Duck regulations - of course until now

Not to mention that even a “lame duck” Trump can really screw things up for all of us should he choose to do so between 11/4 and 1/20/21.

Nullified by the Trump SCOTUS? Puh-lease.

The Post also reported that Sanders argued in his resignation letter that he “simply cannot be part of an Administration that seeks . . . to replace apolitical expertise with political obeisance” and that career federal employees are “legally and duty-bound to be nonpartisan.”

“They take an oath to preserve and protect our Constitution and the rule of law . . . not to be loyal to a particular President or Administration,” Sanders wrote, according to the Post.
… … … …
Bless you sir for your principled stand. I respect you for it. I’ve been there too. It’s not an easy decision but one that is necessary. Your resignation shows that you value personal honor and integrity over the personal loyalty to trump that he demands.

The EO was signed and went out last week. Enough straw met camel’s back.

Well whoever it was gave Trump his heart’s desire, while making hay for his own ideology.

How did we get from the swamp being filled with the party in power cronies, to drain the swamp, to enlarging the swamp to fit more cronies and hanger-ons?

I don’t think they’ll ask him to be one.

The young are impetuous, quick to act, and slow to think through things. At least now as it relates to the white power patrol.

"…the White House praised Trump in a statement on Monday for “increasing accountability.” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…the two are interchangeable. One ‘tweets’ and one sucks to the tweeter…c’mon.

Anyone else notice a redundancy in that sentence?

As a retired career civil service employee, I had two reactions to this move. First, I don’t t think that it is legal or would hold up in court (although in a republican-majority Supreme Court, who knows how the law will be twisted?). Second, this has to be quashed right now, before the damage is done. Once experienced people are driven out, the damage is done, even if the supremes overrule Trump later.

When stuff like this comes up, my suspicion always gravitates toward Stephen Miller. This has the kind of ideologically-driven, wantonly destructive touch that I’ve come to expect.
