Evidence of absense? The judge did demand they affirmatively say so if they have nothing.
Yep. It’s right up there with “I’ve heard it’s true that…”
Except in certain cases. For example, if you sincerely believe that birth control pills work by aborting a fetus, then you can use religious opposition to abortion to restrict their use by your employees.
True that it is rare, but it seems to go straight to whether there was a reasonable basis for their claims in the first place. I don’t happen to know what the pleadings said or what representations were made in court, particularly by the Trump people, but this smells like a Rule 11 thing to me because of that timing. The judge might be considering the complaint and/or their claims to be so utterly without basis or substance that he’s challenging them to put up or shut up. You don’t get to just file complaints on assumptions/presumptions or wild-eyed conspiracy theories of what might take place in the future. If the judge is going in that direction, then there are a few attorneys who might want to be worried right now.
That, or he’s looking to be so unreasonable that they get more delay and have an easy time of it on appeal…
… delaying the mail will drive up our debt due to the delay in quarterly tax payments.
On a personal note, Turbo Tax keeps telling me that the return I tried to file for my (deceased) father and mother keeps getting rejected, and I need to enter some information from a 2018 return that the IRS knows in order to verify that yes, this is legit and not a fraudulent return. But it keeps bouncing back and now I am resigned to just mailing it in as a solution since they will be processed manually.
But now with pure fuckery occurring, who the hell knows when the return will get to where it needs to be and filed. I can only hope to emigrate to the United States where that First World country doesn’t have these bizarre problems.
Oh, wait.
Our machine gives it back to you if you’ve messed up; like double voting or something. If you did you can get another ballot. If the machine takes the ballot you’ve voted and there is a paper copy as well.
Is that what Discobot is for? Thanks!
Burn the $10 and send it priority mail with tracking, for peace of mind.
Friday is over. What happened with this?
Careful with that - I know somebody who filed two back years in early June. He was owed money so had been “going to do it” for a while, but that means he had to file paper. Almost three months later and still not a word from them. Paper processing is way behind this year…
The reactions of any Republican voters dependent on mailed medications is going to be.interesting.
they suck up all the light in the room and reflect it back. I’ve never seen such empty billboards for teeth.
Sure like to see the voting preferences of the precincts these mailboxes have been removed from.
Anybody know if Trump removed himself from the New York City’s voting rolls?
I don’t think that’s actually an offense, unless he’s stupid enough to actually cast a vote in both Florida and New York. I’ve my fingers crossed because he is actually, technically, that stupid…
Looking on the twatters I found a suggestion there’s now a september hearing scheduled, so maybe they did respond to the judge’s order. If they didn’t, I am told the next step would be Order to Show Cause (why you’re not in contempt of my court).
ETA: the hearing was already scheduled before the order to produce docs was issued.
Yes, but the GOP has been claiming that such oh ordinary lapses as failing to remove oneself from a role upon moving is proof of fraudulent intent.
It’s Saturday morning. Who else is dying to see the response :).
I’ll take “Lie” for $1000, Alex!
PA GOP legislature played this game in state court trying to save its Voter ID law. Judge wanted evidence. They actually stipulated they had none. Law unconstitutional, didn’t appeal. And last year the GOP majority legislature, with much the same leadership, passed vote by mail. No fraud claims this time. They already gave up that game. And, like trump shooting off his mouth, in the ID case the now former House majority leader was caught on hot mic saying “passing voter id will guarantee Mitt Romney will win Pennsylvania.” But Dems are the fraudsters…
