Trump Appears To Mock Elijah Cummings After His House Was Broken Into

After reports surfaced that Rep. Elijah Cummings’s (D-MD) house in Baltimore was broken into hours before President Trump started attacking him on Twitter, the tweeter-in-chief posted a bizarrely cryptic tweet on Friday that, at face value, appeared to mock the lawmaker.

Typical Trump double-speak - he’ll claim he should be read literally but his base knows otherwise and will lap it up.

He base would–literally–lap up is vomit.

It’s Donnie two scoops, nothing to parse.

And, it’s Donnie two scoops, if asked, he’ll lie.

The real question is whether 45 will pay his thieves for the break-in.

Wanna bet Trump didn’t write it??

I am curious about that, do we know definitively if Donald writes his own tweets or if they are dictated to some poor staffer?

“It’s unclear if Trump was being sarcastic” and “Appears to mock”.

What nonsense. It is perfectly clear to anyone who has been awake for the last 4 years that Trump is gloating about the break in. Does anyone at TPM seriously think that it is even remotely possible that Trump is sincerely saying that “it is too bad”?

I have liked TPM for cutting through the whataboutism and the editorial “alleged” weasel-speak of most news media. You fell on your butt with this one, though.

Well, Mr. Trump, just what did Kellyanne find in Rep. Cummings’ home? Anything you can use?

Just an awful, odious person all the way to the bone. And all the bones are racist.

The concept of gracious is foreign to him.
So is the concept of empathy.

I try to avoid conspiracy theories, but…

The Washington Post article on the break-in includes quite a few comments reminding people of the Watergate break in.

The Baltimore Sun reported that Police were not able to tell if anything was taken.

And, the emerging right-wing spin appears to be accusing Cummings of just being a landlord of the property, instead of this being his home, so he could claim residency in his district. (Interesting spin, given that they’re passing on a chance to mock both Cummings and Baltimore over a break-in at Cummings home)

This one can be ignored. There’s no reason to dignify it with recognition. He’ll lie and say he was being supportive, and his base will nudge each other and snicker. Ignore.

Who might just take it as an dare to break into other Rep’s homes.

He lacks basic humanity. He is a complete failure as a human being. And we should not and should never forget that 40% of the American public support him, 90% of Republicans support him, Moscow Mitch and Leningrad Lyndsey support him. They are all just as bad.
