Trump Admin Slaps Sweeping Restrictions On Asylum-Seekers

More lies from Trump henchman Barr. He pretends the US under the Trump regime is generous with asylum requests? The regime has lowered the number of granted requests for asylum to the lowest in decades. The intent of the rule is to deny all requests from Central America.

The proposed rule is illegal and will he immediately stayed by a reviewing court upon issuance since it is contrary to statutory law and asylum treaties. The appeal will certainly outlast the Trump regime (unless, God forbid, they win in 2020).

Oh, agree. I’d hardly call any of them safe havens.

Well, when you’re living in the Post-Constitutional world, guess it’s anything goes.

In the European model like you said, once you’ve been given asylum in the EU that goes for all the Schengen countries as if they were states here. So it’s not like they have to ask for asylum over and over and under this safe country bullshit they have to keep asking apparently.

I don’t know - the whole thing is egregious bullshit.

Time for another resolution! Time for another stern admonishment! Time for another plea to work together!

And the maladministration will lose. Again.

So many losses, and yet I don’t get tired of losing. Big heart (or strong)!

I think it is time to impeach. For the sake of humanity.

And yes you should brow beat the evangelical community for supporting a president the kills babies with his border policies, makes it more dangerous for american citizens for his NRA policies, and turns our friends into enemies and enemies into friends.

I don’t care about the Senate. Sometimes it is just the right thing to do!

The inevitable not-guilty verdict will all but guarantee Cheeto Mussolini a second term, but at least we will have shown that our hearts were in the right place.

I cannot understand you people.

What don’t you understand? According to the DOJ policy the only remedy for a sitting president is impeachment.

Are you saying that our POTUS has not committed impeachable offenses?

Of fucking course he has. But in the current political climate, there is a zero point zero chance the Senate would vote to convict him. This would be spun as a vindication, and giving Trump that kind of PR boost would be flagrant political malpractice.

Anything which makes it more likely Donald J. Trump is re-elected President in 2020 endangers the republic, full stop.

“…completely overwhelmed,” eh, Mr. Barr? What a putz!

Pretty much.

Though not according to the Federalist Society judges who are are filling up the every open seat Mitch can fill because people who said that would happen if Trump won were “scaremongering.”

You liberals and your acting like you think words have meanings independent of whatever we want them to mean.

Now there’s a glory for you.

Ok, first, you prosecute a case because you believe there has been a crime committed. If you believe there has been a crime committed but believe there is no chance to convict because of the Senate, well that is a political choice. I get it. But every time the GOP backs this president they double down in the mud with him. I am ok with the GOP wrapping themselves in some Donald, he is such a loathesome human being and it makes the entire party look less American and more party oriented/donald oriented. Over the long term Trump will be viewed as a bad president, of this I have no doubt. He is an asshole, he is a crook who doesn’t like to pay the people he owes (except for russia ), and borrowed from daddy just to build the branding empire he owns.

I think it is vitally important to run a campaign not built on what happens if Trump get’s elected again, but on what kind of campaign can the democrats build that totally and utterly destroys the hollowness of TRump and the GOP.

When Obama tried to bring healthcare to millions of Americans who were uncovered or covered by shitty private plans, the Tea Party and the conservative wing along with its base had a hissy fit for 2 years. This gave us Mark Meadows, this gave us Dave Bratt, this gave us Ted Cruz. They were ready to die because of Obama creating the ACA. Obama got elected because health care coverage for all americans is a good thing. But what I am getting at is that the Dems and their base get mad when Trump separates toddlers and children from their parents, when they throw people in cages, when they spend our hard earned tax dollars on a policy that lines the pockets of those who like to build walls and cages with armed guards. We get mad when they want to build a system of oppression and violence, and the GOP gets mad when we build healthcare. I am really comfortable on this side I am on and I am disgusted with the side they are on.

At the end of the day, the dems need to show strength for what is right, show strength for our better humanity, and show strength in the face of this blowhard that we call our current POTUS.

I guess we can disagree but I hope that you will still be supporting anybody but our current POTUS come next November.

You prosecute a case because you believe there was a crime committed? Um, you might investigate a case, and a prosecutor might then take it to a grand jury to see if you have a case if you need to back up that you have the evidence, but prosecutors don’t prosecute based on belief. The prosecute based on having sufficient evidence that they believe can win the case. At this point, only 1/3 of the house DEM caucus supports impeachment. 50% of the HOUSE is required to impeach. Beliefs may lead folks to follow Jesus, FSM or other deities, but they are no actual EVIDENCE that deities exist. And they don’t make a case for prosecuting.

Ok, what about the Mueller report. Is there not sufficient evidence for a grandy jury for obstruction? Also, doesn’t impeachment proceedings then allow the house to investigate?

This is not the Clinton impeachment, this president is using the office and the additional powers that have been given to it under modern times to actively quash an investigation right infront of the American people eyes.

Btw, I don’t think he should be impeached because he is a terrible person, I think he should be impeached because he is performing the civic duty of elected office in an impeachable way!

In addition, we don’t know how the house would vote on Impeachment because it has not happened, granted one would assume that Mrs Pelosi knows what the numbers are.

Let us send this fake monarch to an asylum, a padded one, where he belongs.

Genuine question: if it’s a proposed rule, than it did not take effect today? Is the reporting to the contrary just wrong for the usual reasons or did mango Mussolini declare that it took effect today despite that being not the case? What tools do litigants have to check on how CBP is interpreting incorrect instructions from the administration?
