I am curious about the claims about the vaccine for the COVID-19. I understand that the DNA of the virus in NY is different then the one in Texas, so will the same vaccine work on both. Also, it is my understanding that this virus is like a common cold virus. Do we have a vaccine that stops any common cold and suddenly they are going to have one in 6 months. Also, if it is like our common flu, the vaccines are about 40-60 effective each year, which is better then nothing, but will it make every feel safe to go out to bars.
Look at the people in the background. A dangerous mob? Some young women in a skirt standing around, the person next to her just standing there, feet together, way to the right some guy walking, not running, yeah, a dangerous mob.
Every morning when I turn on the tv or computer for the news I have just a tiny shred of hope, so far crushed, but then I think, tomorrow, tomorrow could be the day. So I get up every day hoping that my dream has come to reality.
Maybe tomorrow is the day.

The CDC is designed to research, design and make vaccines. Along with a whole bunch of other public health stuff. The Army and Marines are built to kill people and break stuff. That is why they have all of their fancy weapons … bombs, tanks, guns, training to use them to fight wars. That is their job. And they are necessary in this world and I support the troops. They are not designed for public health however.
I think the reason trump is doing this is popularity. Dr. Fauci is very popular. People trust him. He is way more popular than donald is and donald just cannot abide being #2 to anyone… ever. His narcissism will not stand for it. He sees it as a personal slight and his consistent reaction to a slight always is to beat down the one responsible (in his mind). So the solution here was to gut Dr Fauci’s job at the CDC since he could not fire him directly. Make it so Dr. Fauci has nothing to do. Make his life miserable. It matters not that vaccine research, production and distribution will become a complete clusterfuck and many more people will die because of trump and his complete incompetence. trump has made a whole series of decisions that appear to me to be designed to promote wide spread infection, sickness and unnecessary death. And because it appears to be very intentional I have no choice but to believe he is a murderer on a massive scale.
No other president in our history, when confronted with a nationsl calamity, has denied the reality before his eyes the way trump has and continues to do.
FDR, when confronted with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, did not deny it, denigrate its precision or daring do, or prsise the designers of that attack. No, he rallied the nation and demanded a Declaration of War saying “no matter how long it may take us, the American people will win through…” And he didn’t get bored after a week.
I say again…

The covid virus is an RNA virus. It is composed of one single strand of RNA and that strand is surrounded by a protein shell that has spiky protrusions all over it. That’s what makes it a “coronavirus”. There is a whole group of different kinds of coronaviruses, some of which do cause us the experience a “cold”. There are other viruses that cause a cold as well that are not coronaviruses. The covid virus is related to the cold version sort of like the way a hawk is to a dove. Both are birds but each are of different species. There are several new mutations of covid. One that appears to be world wide causes very easy infection. So far no mutation has increased the deadlyness…Understand… every time the virus replicates itself it rearranges its RNA strand. So, it mutates easily and frequently. But that does not mean vaccines will not work on a version in NYC but will in Texas.
Generally folks don’t die from the common cold anywhere near they do from the flu and covid is 10 to 15 times worse than the flu death rate, depending on the group of people one is dealing with. Apparently pre-teens don’t get as sick or die at nearly the rate and old curmudgeon like m e does.
Covid has ravaged the economy of nearly every country world wide. It has infected 17.6 million people world wide and killed close to 700,000 people. Here in the US 4.7 million are infected that we know about thru testing but the real number is sure to be far higher. Confirmed deaths are 156.000 and that’s ten times the deaths caused by the flu. Flu is not, repeat, not a coronavirus. Yet we make new vaccines each year for it because it mutates. And getting a vaccine that is highly effective is like hitting a moving target with a bow and arrow. Some years we nail it. We do not know yet about safety or effectiveness of coming covid vaccines. There are something like a hundred projects going world wide on this. The most promising and the furthest along in the 3 step process is the one being made by Moderna with CDC assistance. They are at the last step. Wide spread testing. This whole process got started last January when the Chinese published the genomic sequence of this virus. Computer modeling began within hours of that publication. The reason I know a bit about this virus is because I have an old habit of reading arcane science publications from across several fields of science. I have a PhD in biochem/endocrinology.
If we all would wear masks when out in public spaces and keeping distant we would reduce covid significantly and as an added bonus we would also reduce the flu and colds and any other respiratory disease. No matter what trump or Louie Gohmert might think.
One last bit of advice. Now is not the time to be in a bar. Close contact between people in an enclosed space like a bar where folk are doing what humans enjoy doing … over hours is exceedingly dangerous to one’s health right now. Do your drinking at home and your conviviality among your friends remotely. Remember, your health decisions affect more than just you. They affect everyone you come in contact with

Their long-range goals are simple.
Getting rid of Trump and all of his Congressional enablers over the next four years.
While we will disagree with them on policy prescriptions, they are doing good work.
And it’s a good bit more than “an amusing intellectual conceit.”
They get under trump’s skin and they make other GOP candidates nervous.

They are trying to take down virtually the entire GOP as it is now configured and rebuild.
Inasmuch as we have to have a second party since one party rule inevitably leads to problems and dictatorships, it is devoutly to be wished that we have a sane opposition party, not a fascist opposition party. That’s what their aim is - to rebuild a sane GOP.

Thank you, I wish we had leadership or media that would explain this, but I just get some information that just is half the story and the media just say the something over and over, without really giving the detail information that we need showing like Bill Nye actually how this virus is transferred. Maybe if they showed how the transfer is made, how masks stop it. Do not just tell us over and over to wear a mask, show us over and over how it stops the virus, which is not subject to interpretation.

Lincoln Project long term goal is to utterly destroy the contemporary Republican Party as conceived by Newt Gingrich, gamed by Mitch McConnell and culminating with the administration of Donald Trump, Blow up the structure, dynamite the foundations, bulldoze it into ocean beyond the low tide mark, then depth charge it for good measure. To be replaced by a rational center right conservative party to balance the Democrats, who by then will probably be busy destroying themselves in a civil war over identity politics.
