Perhaps we should tear down Lady Liberty and replace her with an equivalent-sized likeness of Trump, his clenched fist raised and his other hand clutching a fistful of cash.
And instead of “The New Colossus”, the pedestal’s inscription could say:

The rule has been the top priority of Stephen Miller, the architect of President Trump’s immigration agenda, who views it as the most significant change to regulations that had encouraged migrants to come to the United States.
Mr. Miller has repeatedly pushed administration officials to finish the rule, at one point telling colleagues that he wanted them to work on nothing other than the public charge rule until it was completed.

Consider this scenario:
Highly educated upper income professional family with green card status living here and paying US taxes for years. Their American born child is born with severe disabilities but can remain at home with legal immigrant mom’s care which is paid by Medicaid. The child’s care is rightfully supported by Medicaid. The family’s status now is threatened by the “public charge” issue, but wouldn’t have been if they just institutionalized their child. How is this fair? What cost to society is being unfairly based on to taxpayers?

So this will create a permanent underclass, your clinging to your roof after a hurricane no FEMA for you. Minority owned businesses (started by immigrants) won’t be eligible for special consideration for gov’t loans or contracts.
