You can never underestimate their stupidity. Someone probably told them restarting the economy would take a “ground-up” approach, so they focused on bodybags and coffins.

President Donald Trump has painted a cheery image of the COVID-19 outbreak soon being tamed enough to reopen the economy while downplaying the death rate, but the federal government’s recent purchases [of 100,000 body bags] signal that his own administration has a more grim outlook on the pandemic.
What??!! Trump is lying again??!! Quelle surprise.
I would be much, much more surprised if he were to tell the truth.
I suspect that if he were to tell the truth, it would be by accident.

My niece the doctor and I talked about the rapid reopening. She asked “what has changed?” and then said she wasn’t going to pay attention to any eager governor or the Trump administration “until ER doctors start seeing patients without wearing full PPE”" the way they did before Covid 19.

The only real story with this crackpot is whether she is just a rogue, attention-seeking loony, or if someone is backing these fabrications. That’s the storyline here.

Read the article by David Kurtz “It is hard to be optimistic.” I wondered why the number of deaths decreased for a couple of days and then bounced back to 2000+. New York has gotten its cases down significantly but deaths in other parts of the country are increasing. We need a national program to control it and all we are getting is blame-shifting. Unless something changes, they better put in an order for another 100K body bags, at least.

Fairly certain he wasn’t thinking there was any chance that he’d ever be in one himself.
And so, Trump is telling us that social distancing is unnecessary while the government he runs is ordering more body bags.
It is a good thing that we elected a masterful business genius who understands how marketing links to supply and demand.

I would suggest that Americans of all stripes look into anything dealing with The Authoritarian Personality.
We are heading for a disaster which screams: "FOLLOW SAFETY PROCEDURE!!"
And Trump is screaming: "TEAR EVERY BIT OF THE SAFETY PROCEDURE DOWN!!!"
The only thing that squares that circle is Trump’s intended audience. And there are not enough Authoritarians to win in November without a cheat in the order of a toddler telling Mommy he didn’t steal the cookie (with the cookie in his hand).
