A tree marking the centennial of the 1919 killings of hundreds of black people in the small town of Elaine, Arkansas was found chopped down last week, with its memorial tag stolen.

Willful destruction of property with even a very specific line almost in exact reference to this: https://legalbeagle.com/6454891-laws-destruction-public-property-arkansas.html

Landmarks

Arkansas also criminalizes the willful destruction or removal of landmarks. Anyone who cuts down or otherwise removes a “witness tree,” monument or other landmark established to mark property boundaries can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor.

Not to be a dick, but maybe they could plant a nicer tree. That one looked like it wasn’t doing so hot when it was destroyed =(

No, obviously not a hate crime. What a ridiculous idea. Must have been a rogue beaver. /s

Deplorable.

Both good and bad rogue beavers were involved in the tree vandalism.

Not a hate crime? What if it was over 200 white people killed in a massacre a hundred years ago and they planted a similar tree with a marker and some black guy cut it down and stole the marker? Then would it be a hate crime?

“We are not investigating a hate crime,” she added. “From what we can see it is vandalism.”

So, in Arkansas it has to be either vandalism or a hate crime. Apparently, the notion of “hateful vandalism” is too complex to take root in the Arkansas mind.

No wonder these people elected Tom Cotton to represent them in Washington.

So awesome SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act because racism is a thing of the past.

I hope they catch and (metaphorically, in terms of their ever again being able to earn a living) crucify those racist fucks.

Head-down.

Plant another five trees, and spike them.

Obviously that thing was cut down with an axe, not a more easily concealled hatchet, but an axe, so maybe someone from AR can tell me if its common for folks to carry axes around with them. Its either that or this was a premeditated hate crime.

Stay classy Arkansas.

Oh, who are we kidding? Like that was ever an option.

Maybe it was stupid boys doing stupid pranks on a dare. Maybe it was a man inspired by Trump. But we can all safely bet the perpetrator was white and male.

How about vandalism rooted in and fueled by racism and hate.

Of course, it could just be a youthful indiscretion. Let’s go to Bart O’Kavanaugh and see what he says …

Bart says the family has to have a minimum annual income of at least $150,000 to qualify for the youthful indiscretion category.

Arkansas Native Huckabee Sanders proceeds to blame the hate filled left. Touts Trumps great environmental record of planting trees in front of the White House.
