I fail to see what prosecutors will accomplish in pursuing the bulk of those invading the various buildings in the Capitol complex. Say all you did was walk in and look around. No proof you personally did damage to gain entry. Nor did damage to anything inside once there. No proof you harmed another person while inside. Seems like simple trespass to me. And from what I see on the news what I describe above would fit what the vast majority of people did. I guess you could add refusing an order to disperse. Still, how much time and effort do we expend rounding up a couple thousand people to charge them with trespassing?
I think focusing on the worst violators of more serious laws is what will happen. And that likely is a very small number of people.

It’s my sad opinion that in a year, most voters will have forgotten about these miscreants, and their role in the “failed coup attempt.” A truth and reconciliation commission would go a long way toward naming names and learning lessons.

The response was slow because DC is not in charge of their own defense. The mayor requested National Guard support and the DoD refused her.
