Among the members of the Senate Republican conference facing reelection next fall, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) is considered the most vulnerable — and on Tuesday and Wednesday he has reportedly been warning Republican leadership about the stakes should the party’s obfuscation crusade on cuts to health care fall short: voters of all political stripes are…
“North Carolina would lose $38.9 billion in federal funding and that more than 600,000 North Carolinians would be at risk for losing Medicaid.”
Well, you can’t make a fascist omelet without breaking a few eggs, can you?
And laying off thousands of health care workers who provide the medical care.
New GOP slogan for the midterms: “Joblessness reduces Taxes!”
New Republican campaign slogan!
Who needs health care when they have Jesus?
You mean: “Pray on that gaping chest wound!”
Works every time. After a few moments of prayer, you don’t feel anything.
Has Senator Tillis considered the extreme humiliation a billionaire might face if he shows up to this year’s regatta in the same yacht he raced last year? You can’t put a price on that.
“We are not cutting Medicaid,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said during a leadership press conference on Tuesday. “The president has said that and I have said that. We’ve all said that. We’re strengthening the program.”
Here’s the game they’re playing: Mandating work requirements.
To make people incapable of working – which is why they need assistance in the first place – find jobs or be denied benefits.
So technically (Republicans tell themselves) they aren’t cutting Medicare – the recipients are!
And by throwing the sick, elderly, and disabled – who aren’t physically capable of working several days per week – off the program (again, Republicans tell themselves) they’re strengthening it!
See how that works?
Every word that drips from their Satanic lips is a lie – including “a”, “an”, and “the”.
(And the media tightly held in their regulatory nutcracker – from Fox, to Disney World News With David Muir, to the Washington Putz, to The See BS Evening News – will dutifully repeat every single lie with a straight face and bootlicking tongue.)
“Tillis said this is going to be like ObamaCare. He said just like ObamaCare led to huge losses for Democrats in 2010 and 2012, he said this could be the same thing for us because hundreds of thousands of people in his state, millions around the nation are going to be kicked off of Medicaid.
He forgot to add that many or most of those that would be kicked off received Medicaid due to Obamacare.
“We are not cutting Medicaid,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said during a leadership press conference on Tuesday. “The president has said that and I have said that. We’ve all said that. "
Of course, we were lying when we “said” that, and we’re continuing to lie to you now. So sue us. Who you gonna believe, us or the facts?
Translation: We are going to lose the power. We are going to lose our congressional job. Oh my…lions and tigers and bears…what will we do then?
Well, the increased death rate among seniors will surely help Medicare funding, right?
Given the propensity of seniors to vote GQP, it may help Medicare (and Medicaid) funding, but it isn’t going to help their vote totals.
RE: “Trump Admin Escalates War On Impoundment Control Act,” the House GOP is already attacking GAO. On Monday night, the House Appropriations Committee, Legislative Branch Subcommittee introduced its FY26 bill for markup. The bill calls for a nearly 50% cut to GAO’s budget. It’s a clear, partisan retaliation by the GOP leadership, as seen by the summary in the Committee’s press release:
Redirecting the Government Accountability Office’s efforts to be reflective of congressional priorities and cutting funding to curtail the agency’s self-directed, liberal initiatives.
All of the GAO’s Impoundment Control Act work is required by law and to call any of GAO’s work “self-directed, liberal initiatives” is utter garbage.
The full Appropriations Committee holds its markup hearing on the bill tomorrow at 10:00am.
I can’t recall off the top of my head the name of the Chinese dissident who quipped that the Chinese government had mastered the art of breaking eggs without ever producing an omelet.
Thank you for that marvelous quote! You sent me off looking for an attributable source, and it appears to originally be Pierre Rickmans, a.k.a. Simon Leys:
OMG, honesty from a GOP Senator! The world must be coming to an end. One thing the article did not mention is Tillis’ solution to the problem. We shall see.
I hope I’m wrong, but I suspect Tillis’ solution, like most of the GOP, will be another kabuki performance for his electorate, but then dutifully falling in line behind their cult leader, the Geriatric Jim Jones.
Or show up with the same mistress. The shame…
